| Sorry guys, but I don't believe in the wheelchair/ handicap theory. Here's why: Quote:
Don't you think she would have been more specific if she were strapped to a wheelchair? I do. I think "the boogie don't believe in me" refers to an aptitude, not being handicapped or valid, as you would say you like certain foods, but they don't agree with your stomach, meaning they make you sick. In any case, once again, unless being VERY good at blowjobs, this would again mean she's very potent in bed. This would imply she can move around by herself and be ACTIVE in bed, not just lay on her back immobile and wait for the guy to do his thing. I do believe she expresses the impressions and desires of an overly introverted person, who can't dance in public or introduce herself, because paralyzed with fear of exposing herself, but who wants to have sex/ get involved with a man, and secretly advertises what she could do (in her fantasy world) if given the confidence to express herself physically. And being so shy, that can only be done if a guy does all the work i.e. picks her up. Hence the lyrics in this track. P.S. Boy, We must be very bored to discuss such topics post over post. I guess I'll tune out and watch some TV... |

| ***** I'm gonna regret even responding this way ...........:oops::oops:..... ... but maybe its a situation where she is missing only the lowest parts of her herself ..... put it this way .... she doesn't own any dancing shoes ....:roll: ... but the rest of her is in fine working order , tuned up , well waxed , motor purring and ready to go for a spin ..... And I can't go along with this introverted shy girl version ..... by listening to the song , the strong vocals , the boisterous delivery of the lyrics ... this is a very confident aggressive young lady . She's go what you need ... she knows it .....and she wouldn't tell you NO LIE !!! I think the frustration expressed in the song lies in being a hot chick... with plenty of past experience to prove it .... and yet now she's amazed to find herself in an environment where the disinterested reaction isn't quite what she's used to ........... where she's practically shouting "HEY DISCO GUYS !! ......LOOK AT ME..... YOU'LL BE SORRY IF YOU PASS ME BY !!!! *****

Most probably, YES!!! I don't think the lyrics should be taken as something she's blurting out on the dancefloor (or in her corner, since she's neither standing or dancing); rather inner thoughts she wished she could express to the guys passing by, but she can't, and won't !!! Why again?? 'Cuz she's too shy!!! Remember, introverts often have strong and bold feelings, but fail to find the courage to express them and stand behind them in public. So such ideas and feelings remain in their thoughts and diaries. I still believe the introverted gal theory remains the only plausible one; her only missing her feet could also be possible, but too far-fetched and exclusive to be the topic of a disco track... | ***** KoolChris ..... you state your case well. She could be frustratingly expressing these sentimentas with this degree of intensity as felt from within. Whatever the underlying 'rest of the story" is ... this is an odd lyrical twist where singing about not dancing nonetheless creates a great disco song .... *****

Maybe the next person who bumps into the lead singer should ask her whether she was complaining about having no feet, being an introvert, or dealing with gays. If anyone does, please take a picture of her face as you're asking the question... I'm already giggling |

| [quote=remicks;98626]but if loving is really her game ......and if she's so good at playing it ..... why can't she catch no man hanging out at the discotheque?????[b] I always thought everyone else was so into dancing (their game) that no one paid any attention to someone sitting on the sidelines. bottom line, one of the best disco tracks ever...period!

| I'm glad a lot of you think it is one of the best disco tracks ever - it sure has my vote on that one. What became of Brainstorm anyway? I like KoolChris's spin on it also that she is hot in bed to make you SHOUT..... SHOOOOOUT. All the best from downunder. |

| song lyrics are often open to multiple interpretations, I guess only the author can reveal the actual intended meaning. But the first impression I got when I heard the lyric is that it was describing the frustration of being a female looking for love/lust in a gay disco and not understanding why she couldn't connect. And on a related note, I sure can understand how tempting it was to cover a song this wonderful and propulsive, but none of the 3 covers I've heard of it so far come close to matching the magic of the original. I'm sure glad that MOST (not all but MOST) people have resisted the temptation to cover the similarly thrilling classic "Got to be Real". I thought Mariah Carey and Patti LaBelle really butchered it, but that's just my 2 cents. |

| They followed LIRMG with "(I'll Make It) Hot For You". Personally, I liked it a lot. But it went nowhere. |
