Well you could give us a bit more information on what you’ve bought. i.e. a picture of it and description, we can then probably put your mind at ease. You could also have a look at the one in the discomusic.com - Disco Records Discography: http://www.discomusic.com/records-more/3401_0_2_0_C/

I have three saved auctions from 2002 and my side 2 scans are exactly like yours , this previous auctions include a sleeve that read "three versions of the Fatback Bands "Spanish hustle" , they sold for 149,101 and bid of 178.51 usd of 450 usd asking price which did not sell I'm guessing this is your auction

Well if you’ve bought the above record that Mixmachine has provided a link for then you’ve bought bootleg/re-issue (or as they say Limited Edition Exact Re-Issue) and at $11.50 that’s not unreasonable if sound quality is up to scratch. It looks like an Italian pressing from record label ridges and as its coming from Italy that would fit. If you had paid a massive amount for it then that would be a different story. I don’t think the long 12" mix has found it’s way on to any official 12"/CD’s reissue yet, so apart from an original 12" this is probably the only other option.

Don't bother with the italian bootleg on Ebay. It's got terrible sound quality, especially during the trumpet solo, which sounds too loud and crackly. It's like that on all of the edits of the song that are on the 12". Disco Funk

Thanks for the replies guys. Bernie - Sorry I just didn't want to give the bootlegers advice on what to put on their bootlegs. But anway, No I did not buy my disc on ebay, and it is NOT the Italian copy that is listed. The thing I am a little concerned at is on the runout groove the catalogue number is correct but it has CP X (or similar) which I can read as COPY !!!! Can anyone who has the Original please check thier runout and let me know if theirs has this text PLEASE. The A side has extra text (as on Bernie's scan) but the B side has EXACTLY the wording of the Italian Re-issue (which has less text than that on the A side). so that also made me wary.

Starsky the original copy I have has the CP X mark on both sides and the usual Jose Rodriguez cutting mark, not sure what the CP and X stands for. Two of the Polydor 12" promos that I looked at have it as well, Bionic Boogie “Risky Changes” for instance has it but without the X. The label copy for the record is: side 1 as shown on Discomusic.com scan and side 2 as shown on Italian Bootleg scan.

Dont look at the wording but at the way the surface of the record label looks. The cheap ebay scan looks different in the circle pattern compared to the original - fake has two rings and the original has only one but larger ring - Futhermore the fake label looks Glossy compared to the paperfeel of the original. Now i havent had the fake in my hands but i normally also judge by the weight, look and do i dare say it...the smell of the record, cover and inner sleeve.

Thanks to everyone for your replies, very timely. I have now taken all the advice and evidence into consideration and I am happy that I have the original disc. The main concern I had was because the label just looks TOO clean. However, I am happy that I have a piece of true disco history, and that the Discomusic website has such knowledgable and Helpful people.:D Cheers

Glad we got that sorted for you Starsky. And just in case anybody wants the Spanish Hustle 12" Disco Mix, it looks like it got a re-issue (not a bootleg) a couple of years ago on a SIMPLY VINYL 12" S12DJ067 in the UK. The Fatback Band (Are You Ready) Do The Bus Stop (Original Album Version) b/w Spanish Hustle (Original Disco Mix) SIMPLY VINYL S12 12" S12DJ067
