Arrow GRAND 12" , Vol. 3-Updated: Vol.4 Released!

Continuing an excellent series of CDs, Ben Liebrand's GRAND 12 inches, Vol.3 has just been released. A good few tracks on here to own on CD, including a few which I (along with many others) suggested via his website.

Yeap, a very nice selection there, one of this days I may bite the bullet and get all three of this sets, but boy, aren't this cds expensive:o

8.M.F.S.B. - Love Is The Message (11:33)

I recently discovered 2 different (boots?) 12" with remixes, one is from Mr kavorkian(sp) and the second one is very similar by Cuco. They are not bad at all, both concentrating on the instrumental synth only without the 3 degrees

Fox The Fox - Precious Little Diamond (7:27)
This record was really big in Miami, I used to play spin this one everyday for quite a while :o

Robert Palmer You are in my System (Extended Album Mix)(6:00)

Always preferered the version by The System, although this one is very good choice to.

Tavares -Heaven (irresistable Angel Mix) (8:25)

Is this the remix He did in the mid eighties? I just realized only a while ago he's the one who also remixed "Love to Love" and other ones around the same time I can't recall.

Expensive??!!?

This latest one is going for around 20 dollars at the moment. For a quality 4 CD compilation I'd call that cheap!

Well I bought Vol 2. You are right Quinny, the series is well done. It is probably better for new disco enthusiast who haven't started a collection. Most of us here probably have all the songs on these cds. In my case there were one or 2 songs I wanted the 12" version of so I paid the $20.

Well Marky, I used to spin it regularly and it kept the dancefloor full. Very Michael Jackson - Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough so far as overall feel goes. Does that answer your question?

I bought this compilation for several tracks, but my main one is at last I'll own a 12 minute copy of RR EXPRESS on CD. It's worth 20 bucks just for that!!

Quinny, I actually have the extended version 12 minute version of "R.R. Express" on a 14 track Rose Royce compilation called Wishing on a star. It was an early Warner Bros greatest hits CD distributed by Pickwick.

For those of us who were not so quick off the mark to get a hold of this compilation, or the excellent Dance Classics series (long deleted) which also had a long version of RR Express, Grand 12 inches, Vol.3 will do nicely.

Janis Ian, Herbie Hancock, Andre Cymone, Suzi Lane, Billy Ocean, Jerry Knight, Fern Kinney, Rah Band, Real Thing all sound good to me, especially in their long versions. Most of those haven't had broad distribution on other comps (if at all).

Brownie points from Ben Liebrand or SONY?

He's one of the very few '80s working DJs to put out any CD compilations. I trust his judgement far more than most others, especially the newer hip jocks. Liebrand is pretty down to earth really, has great first-hand knowledge including the re-mixing and production of BIG disco hits and therefore his output is commercially more astute. He doesn't live his life up his own ass!!!
