I didn't know she sang back-up on SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY
( wasn't much back-up to it, was there ??? ....)

"Donna Summer unterstützte sie 1983 mit ihrer Background-Stimme in "She Works Hard for the Money". Roberta Kelly war maßgeblich an dem Projekt "Silver Convention" beteiligt, unter anderem bei der Entstehung der Nummer-Eins-Hits "Fly Robin Fly" und "Lady Bump". "

Wish I knew what this and the rest of the article says ..... bitter ??

Perhaps Kelly didn't want to end up like Summer did before the deluge of 1980...

on the subject of interviews, there's an absolutely SIZZLING interview with Mark Lee (formerly of the Village People) in the current issue of San Francisco's Bay Area Reporter (available online also). He reveals several things about Jacques Morali that are, well, not for the faint of heart. It's ironic because I'd always wanted to know more about Morali and always wondered why so many of the artists who'd worked with him seldom seemed to reveal much about his personality....NOW I know why!

Interesting... although I wouldn't take all that at face value. I thought Morali's partner committed suicide before Morali died. I do recall reading that David Hodo was the only one of the original VP to keep in touch with Morali in his final years.

read the article. spoiler alert...Lee says Morali propositioned him with the great seductive opening line..."I'm into scat.."

The interview concentrates on her religious background.
I didn't feel like translating word for word but here's the gist of it:

As a catholic child she wanted to become a nun, but after performing before an audience she decided to become a singer.
Later on, she had different jobs like assisting with X-rays or secretary while singing in different clubs and venues. Roberta Kelly realized that she needed to fully concentrate on making music to become a succesful singer and soon after she got involved with Giorgio Moroder and so on and became a disco star.
Kelly had luxury, a man and so on but wasn't happy with her life. After praying to God one day she decides to leave her dissolute, sinful, atheistic lifestyle behind her.
She lost everything except Jesus. Subsequently, she devoted her life to the Lord and became a gospel singer performing in churches, hospitals, prisons and other places for charity. In admiration for pope John Paul II she's writing a song dedicated to him which gets published after his death. Furthermore, she's teaching moral values and the Bible to children and young people whom usually aren't church goers nowadays.
And she's living near Pfaffenhofen in Upper Bavaria.

I hope this helps a little.
