I will try this search again. I read a post sometime ago about the Limelight in Hallandale, Fl. I am looking for a copy of the disco contest that took place in Broward County Fl and the winning couple received a new Corvette. The show was called Getdown Showdown. Some of the people who wrote in about the Limelight were: Orlando Perez, aka, Landy, Lucille, mentioning Bobbie Lambardi, May, 1978 Tommy & Cindy, Valentino room, Joel & Vito, bartender, Peter, Gary, Disco 79, frdrsjr, hbkathi, marcomarco, mixmacnine, doubleR, felipe, Dan W, Louis Martinez, aka, Louis Martinee, Norma Costa, Beth, Gus, Bernard. The subject of the post was Limelight, October, 2004.

My sister Nancy and her partner Mike were contestants in in the group of 12 couples trying to win the new Corvette. They made it to the last 3 couples. I have been searching for years. PLEASE, this is my last try. THANK YOU!

Where exactly was the Limelight in Hallandale? Also, what do you mean you are looking for a "copy of the disco contest"?

The Limelight was on the Northwest corner of Federal Highway and Pembroke Road. It was right next to the Hollywood Dog Track.

I remember the night it burned down. I was in a bar right across the street from it.

I don't think it was the same owners, but a new Limelight opened on Hollywood Beach. I think it was in the old Hollywood Beach Hotel. It's not there anymore.

All these clubs had dance contests. I was a disco dancer myself and won a lot of times. I was not in the Limelight contest, but was a finalist for Dance Fever for the South Florida area. They even made a documentary type show called "The Making of Dance Fever". with me and the other finalist couples. It was supposed to run one night during the "Dance Fever" timeslot, but I never saw it.
