Default Toni Tennille: Disco Belter?

I hesitate to confess a guilty pleasure on this forum, but I enjoy "How Can You Be So Cold" by Captain & Tennille from '79. Never saw a post on this track, which suggests it is beneath notice...?

Can't believe it! Finally, someone else who knows and likes this track. I used to play it although Casablanca's album pressing was awful. Always loved the look on the face of the person who asked me "Who's singing?" after I flashed the album cover. :D  :-?

Isn't that song from the same album as Do That To Me One More Time? If so I think I have the tape of the album...will have to listen to it now :D

That's the album. Since it was released on Casablanca, I was surprised the label didn't release a 12". Of course, the year was '79, and so it might've gotten lost in the glut of releases anyway. Still, the vocals are gutsy, the instrumentation is surprisingly driving, and the lyrics are commandingly sensual without resorting to the by-then cliche orgasmic groaning.

They played it in New Orleans clubs though not often and I liked it enough to purchase the album then (still have it). Though not a disco song I also liked "Never Make Your Move Too Soon" off the same album. It is now available on CD entitled "Make Your Move" put out by a company called Respond 2. Barnes and Noble has it on their web site with samples.

I enjoy tips offered here from others .
I sought out ... and found The Captain and Tennille's 1979 Casablanca LP : MAKE YOU MOVE .......dollar bin ... one buck ... mint condition 8)

Welllll ......
HOW CAN YOU BE SO COLD does have its moments ...... I'd mix it from "ONE MORE MINUTE " .... into the middle of the song once Toni's past those contrived & unconvincing lyrics
I am tender to the touch
And I want you very much
Ohh baby

those are some of the lyrics .... I swear ....

NickNack .... I thnk you were quite bold to play this ! ....:)

And , there are other reasons to seek out this LP :
NEVER MAKE A MOVE TOO SOON
Toni doing her Linda Clifford RUNAWAY LOVE imitation ! ... A supposed "live" Millie Jackson small club styled rap .... Very funny storyline ... she gets jilted , comes home to an empty house and her guy has run off with everything ..... except for a Las Vegas Keno Card .... a winning Las Vegas Keno card !!!
talk about making your move too soon .... . .

or if you've been seeking a disco version of The Turtles HAPPY TOGETHER ... imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night ...

.... here it is ...... the break is very cool .... Arabic ( SANDSTORM ) ... but
distracting to the point of ruination : the way Toni says "so happy togeth -THAA "

NO LOVE IN THE MORNING
a mid-tempo song that should've played fine in the Stand Up bars ......

Actually I'm enjoying myself .... put this in the plus column ..... one dollar well spent !:)

*****

I take my loving everywhere
When I come back honey, ............... they still care
One love ahead, one love behind
One in my arms and one on my mind
One thing baby,

I never make my move too soon ................
