Yes indeed, if only! If only people in the recording industry would realize that there are people out there who would happily pay for hard to find music like this, they might not be in the financial straits they are today.

JMJ, they finally released TGIF, so, maybe there's hope. Imagine, a recent study in our country points out that the people who are still BUYING music are 40ers and 50ers.

What do they like? Music they grew up with! So, maybe.....there's more to come, I hope!

Unfortunately, due to the licensing set-up, I doubt that'll happen. Use of the tracks was granted to each company (with the exception of DMC, an entirely different set-up) for 500, or 1000 copies, max.

If the original label, or any subsequent licensing label, wanted to release the DiscoNet/Hot Tracks mix, they could. And some did. (Meccano's "Down, Down Romeo, or Boy Krazy's "That's What Love Can Do", various Ultimixes, etc...) But the companies very rarely wanted the tapes from the Remix Services. And the Services can't release them, after the agreed 500 - 1000 copies, on their own. Except with a 2nd permission granted. (That's how the "Best Of..." series came about.) So, there's no "legal" way to release them, unless by the individual, original labels, themselves. (Although, Ultimix bought their own pressing plant, which makes it impossible to oversee that particular aspect.)

I know that Steve Von Blau sold the DiscoNet library to a Dutch guy. But he must've been a wealthy collector. As he can't, legally, release any of it. And Scott Cox recently unloaded the Hot Tracks name and library on a company named Select-Mix. But again, it's useless, outside of selling the aging back-issues, from storage.
