Default what happened to hot Productions?

Over 6 or 7 years ago I used to get a crappy photocopy catalog of CDs from a company called Hot Productions out of Miami. They sold dozens of great disco albums on CD. I bought a bunch of their stuff, but then one day a few years ago when I sent in a check for an order, I got it back with a note saying that they were all sold out or something. Do any of you guys know what the deal was with this company?

Aside from their dubious practice of mastering many of their disco reissues from vinyl then claiming they were from the masters, I remember reading on here that they were bought out by a German company called Jack White Productions. They recently relaunched Hot as Empire Musicwerks. The new company did some disco compilations recently; none of the older Hot releases are listed on their site though. I'm guessing once the remaining Hot releases are sold out, that will be it..

You can find some of their CDs on Amazon via the marketplace sellers for pretty cheap. And there's on guy on ebay who's selling not only the CD but also some vinyl versions.

Unfortunately, some of the Hot Production CDs became CDRs. So far, I've come across the Maryann Farra album and the TK Records compilation as CDRs. There are apparently others.

I have managed to buy many of the HOT PRODUCTIONS HI-NRG compilation Cds and various HINRG/Disco artist albums from e-bay very cheaply. I read somewhere that the company lost money on this venture but i dont know if that is true ??
