Bernies has this Fatback Band 12" listed in the vault. From what I can tell from his description, the songs received extended edit treatment, a la Danny Krivit, not actual full remixing. I was just curious about Spanish Hustle - is it the original 12" long version that they extend on this 12"? That old 12" mix had a rhythm only section (i.e. no solo) that wasn't included on the LP mix. Thanks in advance. Disco Funk

The ZY edit has an 80's feel with irritating stop-go-scratch effects that to many totally spoiled it even when it was new and that kind of mucking about was common. Simply housefying a flowing track like Spanish hustle could have worked. The edit is apparently built from the 12" but the way it's done it's a bit hard to tell, really.

A new remix/rework of Spanish Hustle has recently come out – 3 new mixes on a UK12" Fatback Band feat Bah Samba Spanish Hustle (America Latina, Organic and Southport Weekender mixes) I’ve not had a listen to it yet, so I don’t now how well the new mixes work. No full length original 12" mix unfortunately. They have also remixed/reworked the Fatback Band’s - Let The Drums Speak.

I bought this 12" at the time to have an extended version of the "Bus Stop" but they only extended the standard track and are starting it a second time on the same side. Not bad but not a milestone in editing either. The sound quality is not that good either. ZYX is a company that owns many rights but I'm always amazed by the way they release certain stuff. I hope you are referring to this one: http://www.discomusic.com/records-more/4012_0_2_0_C/

Thanks for your help guys. I guess I'll pass on that German pressing. Did Ace/Southbound put it out on a compilation? I seem to recall a vinyl record or two with the extended 12" remixes. I don't understand why they've not put those remixes onto CD, what with all those Best of CDs they keep putting out. Heck, those remixes would have been perfect as bonus cuts on the reissues of the original albums they've had out for over a decade now. Disco Funk
