Default The Spinners - Dancin' and Lovin'

I've been listening to the Spinners : Dancin' And Lovin' LP like crazy lately.. Bought it earlier in the year out of curiosity, and it didn't disappoint. One of those albums where you can listen to both sides straight through without lifting the needle.. Pure melodic, soulful, joyful disco and from 1979, no less!

Another thing, the vinyl sounds so wonderful (ie. not distorted at the end).. I suppose it was either not played very much and/or mastered very well. As much as I prefer CDs most of the time, when it sounds this good, vinyl is such a great listening experience..

I actually found that album on a 1990 Rhino Cd about 5 years ago. Surprisingly that was issued before they issued their mid 70's Atlantic albums and the 2 best of sets.
I noticed the most distortion on late 80's vinyl. I think that the industry threw vinyl on the market without quality standards because records were no longer money-makers.

Yeah I've seen that CD around. As great as the album is, I was surprised to even find it on CD in the first place, let alone find out it was one their first to be issued on CD. I'm definitely going to be getting that soon.. It seems it's gone out of print, but so far still widely available. I guess commercially, the album didn't do too badly at the time..

I've definitely noticed that on some late '80s vinyl too.. I was just listening to a Lisa Lisa LP I have from that time. Haven't played it much, it was even sealed when I got it but right out of the box there was much more inner-groove distortion than I had expected. I recently got a pretty good cartridge too, so I don't really have that excuse this time around..
