Hey Guys! I was just remembering when I used to receive dirty looks from Mom & Dad back in 1975 whenever I'd crank my Magnavox bookshelf stereo and play Donna Summer's "Love To Love You Baby" album! My mother would play coy and ask, "Why is that woman groaning?" I remember a couple of years earlier The Chakacha's "Jungle Fever" was pretty steamy, too! Does anyone have a favorite 70's "Moanin' & Groaning" favorite?

"Jungle Fever" was a little bit over the top  -Donna Summer: "Could it be magic" -Poussez: "Come on and do it" -Easy Going:"Scaredy cat" starring one of our members here  And a jewel: Toni Sylvester: "Pazuzu", beautiful orchestration! But nothing beats Prince's "Orgasm"!

Good topic. I was actually thinking of this the other day when I listened to 'Love Chant' by Eli's Second Coming. The outro is full of moans and groans. Sometimes I think they work, and sometimes I wish there was a PG version without them. Other cuts with moaning and groaning: Love Won't Let Me Wait by Major Harris (I think the moans and groans actually ruin the song). Behinhana by Marilyn Chambers Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me by Peter Brown Sweet Sounds of Love by Fever Kiss Kiss Kiss by John Lennon/Yoko Ono Put Your Love In My Tender Care by Fatback Band I Got My Mind Made Up by Instant Funk Disco Funk

Cerrone's Love In C Minor has quite the orgasmic moanin' and groanin' episode in it...course as they say at the beginning: "that ain't no banana" Another song that I thought was quite interesting (lack of a better word) is Dancing and Romancing off the Passion album. I don't know how popular this particular cut was in the discos, but the middle break has these moans and groans created by a couple of violins by the sound of it....quite, ahh, unique. The prize for best moans and groans still has to go to the original version of Je T'Aime by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin...not a dance track (actually quite pretty) and a few years before disco but certainly had to be the first of it's kind.

In "Mephisto" by The Diabolic Soul Invention, the devil himself causes a protesting woman to make low, hissing and gurgling "No No NOOO!" sounds from Deep down of her Throat. In "Love Money" drag queen Loiuse Leshter gets excited by the idea of you paying her money for sex. She loves the money and goes into convulsions of ecstasy in the final part of the track, but only on the b-side of the euro pressing of "Deshabillez-Moi". In "Si Si No No", a Nino Velasquez disco version of the 60's cha-cha classic, a young lady is apparently being tickled and licked by a suave-sounding gentleman - the chick chirps, ay-ay-ays and then begins to scream uncontrollably.

Cerrone's "Love in C Minor" and probably my favorite; Silvia's (Robinson) "Pillow Talk" from '71 (?). My mother was shocked when that hit the airwaves. I was 19, 1-A in the draft, and knew what the score was...

The Diabolic Soul Invention track is included on a Spanish comp called "Star Wars". The a-side has a expectedly cheapo medley of the film tunes done with synths, half way great half boring. B-side has unrelated items, Mephisto among them. Look for a cover image of a surfer in space, very tacky. The track is also on Italian cd called "Abacus" which has oddball tunes from 70's tv shows, movie soundtracks, sex education tapes aimed at schoolkids ( yet contain grotesquely suggestive material, clearly manufactured by serious pervos) and bad taste boogie tracks like "Sado Maso Disco" by Myst. - Louise Leshter was out on Hansa label, not too hard to locate I assume, I sometimes see it around. Nino Velasquez is very hard to find, I've only ever seen my copy anywhere. The pressing is French, so I'd say go to Silly Melodies in Paris, Boulevard St Michel, right next to the metro stop.
