***** Its plenty easy to name titles from the long list of all the pretty disco numbers that were conceived … there was an abundance of great tunes that fit that category ..... But what about those disco songs from the other end of the spectrum ?? The ones that got the testosterone to flow …… machismo …… macho- macho .... man …… Here are some titles that come to mind that did it for me : BORN TO BE ALIVE --- Partick Hernandez WALK THE NIGHT --- Skatt Bros. MAGIC BIRD OF FIRE --- Salsoul Orchestra HILLS OF KATMANDU --- Tantra GOT TO GIVE IT UP --- Marvin Gaye I CAN'T TURN YOU LOOSE --- Anthony White LES VISITORS --- Gino Soccio PASSION --- The Flirts And some from the ladies : SHAME --- Evelyn "CHAMPAIGN " King KNOCK ON WOOD --- Ami Stewart SWEET DYNAMITE --- Claudja Barry CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT YOUR LOVE --- Tamiko Jones Agree? *****

Can't see very big balls there, or maybe my vision's obscured because of their largesse.   I think you've gotta be looking at the Jazz Funk and Disco Funk of the era to find any real balls. The ONE record, that to my mind had balls-a-plenty and was pure unadulterated Disco, was Musique - In The Bush. The drumming is so fierce and the break where you just have the drums, bass, guitar scratchin' and clavinet? just floors me every time I hear it. Pure adrenalin.

One title that comes to mind right away for hard-hitting, active, can't-take-no-more instrumentation and major 'balls' is On Fire by T-Connection...seven minutes of 140 bpm machismo and excitement...and when it's over, I say "play it again"! :) Runner-up for male vocals would have to be Hot Number by Foxy...or any of the cuts from their Party Boys album (Let's Be Bad Tonight!)...also Crank It Up and Do You Wanna Get Funky With Me by Peter Brown. Gee, all from TK Records...testosterone city! And for a tough, ballsy disco tune with female vocals, no question: Love and Passion by Cheryl Barnes off the American Gigolo soundtrack. Other mentions: Love Attack - Ferrara Have A Cigar - Rosebud I'm A Man - Macho (just for the back cover alone!)

Cerrone's "Love in C minor" and Poussez' "Come on and do it". If your S doesn't become XXL when hearing those ones...... And "Fernando" by Abba, notch, notch, wink, wink, say no more! "When you hear the drums Fernandóóó"-Ohhhhhhh
