One half of me says "possibly their best dancefloor offering" the other half says "workmanlike and vocalists sound bored, compared to instrumentation". I generally enjoy the track.

"reach for the sky....". The vocalist does sound a little meh, but then again, Jocelyn & Luther were out at this point so...

I still think "Angel In My Pocket" is their best dancefloor cut though.

This is a fantastic track and I think the vocalist sounds more cool than "bored". Loved 'Angel in my pocket' too, and 'A lovers Holiday' and naturally the Luther (Lead) sung stuff. Hey come to that I loved 'Let's go together', 'hold tight', 'heaven of my life'.
Me'thinks Change were a spectacularly underated group. Yes I know singers, musicians came and went but hey!

I certainly agree! This post has me checking out the three albums that I have. I haven't listened to these in years and do remember loving them back then. Lover's Holiday has always been a major favourite of mine...the entire Glow of Love album is very good despite the fact that the cuts were all over the place as far as style goes. I guess the reason being that the album was released in that tricky time of early 1980 so you've got r/b disco to total synth-Eurodisco. By the way, who is the female vocalist on Angel In My Pocket? She sure sounds familiar...on the album, there's a reference to Jocelyn Shaw..is this Jocelyn Brown before getting hitched?

My Miracles album suffers from being a victim of a flooded basement earlier this year  The vinyl still sounds good...the cover not so good.

The Sharing Your Love album is the most polished and, as I listen to it while typing this, certainly doesn't sound at all dated to me....just a nice laid back groove. The vocals of James Robinson are very Luther-like and I'm certain I've seen his name elsewhere. Deborah Cooper also helps out with vocals. I've seen her name associated with C&C Music Factory and she recently had the dance floor stormer Love You All Over earlier this year.

It's hard to believe that the team behind Change is Jacques Fred Petrus and Mauro Malavasi....the same guys behind the busy disco arrangements of the Peter Jacques Band recordings. Thanks Front Page for making me dig out these treasures! :)

Yep! Jocelyns 'Shaw' and 'Brown' are one and the same.

Thanks for clearing that up. Despite the notoriously sad fact that most dance artists suffered from gaining any kind of name recognition in the music world, it's neat to see certain names popping up over the last 25 years or so. I had only first heard of Jocelyn Brown with her release of Somebody Else's Guy but obviously she was doing lots of backup before that. I'll still grab anything with her name on it.

Oh boy you've got a lot of grabbing to do. Ms Brown must be the most prolific vocalist ever!!
Check out her lead vocal stuff with Inner Life, Cerrone, Salsoul Orchestra, Dazzle, Joe Baatan,The Bad Girls & there are loads more, she also sang back ups for Chic (as Shaw) and many many others. A true anthology would be scary!
And she's still going strong. God bless Jocelyn Brown.

"The Very Best In You" is a great cut too...

Yeah, so funny to listen to say, PJB "One,Two Three..." from 1980 and then compare it to "The Glow Of Love"...one's slick, stylized hi-nrg/Eurodisco, the other slick, smooth, r'nb groove.

Oh, before I forget.."Heaven Of My Life"...Awesome song.

Default on the subject of Change

are all of you aware that "Miracles" and "Change of Heart" have been released as a two-fer CD, and there's also a 2 CD retrospective of much of their best work? And while everyone else is listing their favorite Change tracks, my votes go to "Your Move", "Miracles", "Warm"(along with the Human League's "Human", I consider "Warm" one of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's high points as composers and producers) and the perculating "Change of Heart" ("give me back all my love, I've had a change of heart")

I always thought the verses in "Change Of Heart" sound IDENTICAL to Chic's "My Forbidden Lover"...listen to the two and you can hear an eerie similarity.

"Let's Go Together" is awesome.

The song Paradise was alright but my favorite by Change is Glow of Love. I guess nothing they did after that was good enough for me. I always wanted Glow of Love to be my wedding reception song whenever I get married again!!

"PARADISE "" is a well crafted song .... in need of enhancement via some remixes .... imo .... comes on strong right out of the box .... but doesn't develop much further or switch out enough from there on out .... ( a risk a song takes if it reveals all its goodies within its first 30 seconds ) . Some of the most promising material at that time was from Change ... ..... ...... just wish someone had reworked some of those songs one level further as well as made " PARADISE " longer .....

I don't think Disconet ever took on any of Change's songs .... too bad .... they'd have jerked and twisted those arrangements around :) ....

Is there a longer version of "Paradise" than just the 5 minute version?

I have it on a dj mix tape and the version on there seems longer, but it could be one of those re-edits that the dj did themselves.
