Probably a dj re-edit...the 5 minute version is the LP/12" mix as far as I am aware...I don't know if Change had a lot of 12" mixes. usually the LP cuts are the full versions no?

Great track, with a short space to mix.

I've been listening to my CD with the "Miracles" album recently, just remembered what a great album that is. Probably my favourite of the Change albums I have so far.. Paradise, Miracles, Your Move, Stop For Love and Heaven of My Life.. all great songs..

I consider Miracles the last Change album. I liked the later ones. But they should have been released under a different group name. They were too far removed from the original. They might have been more successful without having to live up to A Lover's Holiday.

But even Miracles could have been released under BB&Q Band. Or On The Beat could have been released as a Change single. Who would've known the difference?

On another posting, someone made a similar observation about the later Peter Jacques Band material. Everything after their second album was quite different. I guess it's the studio group thing. When you compile a real group to perform after studio singers have defined the group sound. Like with Musique. And even the Village People. Sometimes you retain some studio talent. Other times you have to build it from scratch. But at that point, should you give them the same name?

Regardless, Paradise (and Hold Tight) are great songs. But who really made them?

I'm a huge fan of the JFP sound & consider the productions, playing & writing all excellent & about as good as music gets IMO, but if their is a single fault with this stuff I often feel that it's in the arrangements of the songs. The arrangements could've been a little more imaginative with many tracks being basic verse, chorus, verse, chorus & very repetitive, boring percussion breaks on many tracks. JFP isn't the only culprit though as I often found Gregg Diamond & Ian Levine produsctions had a tendency towards unimaginative arrangements too (again, everything else about them was fabulous). Though I'm not a fan of remixes per se, some of these tracks may have benefitted from a little 'rejigging'!

I got into CHANGE in the summer of 1980 ; when I was in NY and it was all over the radio.Got every release afterwards.

I started to lose touch when their albums wouldn't get released in Canada.I found the odd import here & there but I really started to listen to their stuff again when I got the BEST OF CHANGE compilation.

With all the best known tracks grouped together ; it is amazing how great they sound.Very CHIC-like and their match with JAM & LEWIS gave them a second wind.

As far as remixes go ; NO LIES got a great remix that transformed the album track into a HiNRG winner.

I always loved "The End." Imo, the song is pure electronic genious. Just about worth the price of the entire album (ie, Glow of Love). Glow of Love is just pure polish, their best album, imo. Miracles is my 2nd favorite.

I have it on a dj mix tape and the version on there seems longer, but it could be one of those re-edits that the dj did themselves.

During the time the song was originally released,(1981) there was a Shep Pettibone Mastermix done for the the NY based 98.7 Kiss FM, I thought this mix made it to one of the 98.7 Kiss Mastermix LP's, but as I haven't found it yet, I can't confirm that

qdearl, if it's the same mastermixes double album set with "Come Let Me Love You", Paradise is not on it. I have the album set. Too bad it's never been released on cd.

Hi All:

I am a fairly new poster to this Forum, so bear with me if I drone on...lol. Allow me to introduce myself. I joined this great site because I was very impressed with the quantity and quality of info on NY Clubs which Bernie has compiled; primarily info about Xenon, the premiere NY club of its time bar none.

Now on to the topic at hand...Change. I absolutely agree with FrontPage, "Paradise" is an exceptional tune...but I'd like to add the following. Maybe I am missing something, but I am a little surprised that in a thread about Change, every one of you has left out "Searching." I first heard "Searching" in late 1979 or early 1980 in the above named club as the resident dj, Tony Smith, would play it and other Change tunes at the beginning of the night just before 11PM while the club was still fairly empty. That smooth sound coming out of that incredible sound system would dig deep into your soul and make you want to get up and dance. I found the Best of Change CD after many years of looking and have played it over and over again since.

Thanks for starting this thread about this excellent band.

Excellent point, Mike. "Searching" is my favorite song by Change - to me, it's the song I first think of when I look at the Glow Of Love album. I also remember it getting a lot of airplay on the NY stations of the day, and wondering who the vocalist was (Luther, of course, we came to find out).

the musicians are listed on the back cover. But after Change released "Miracles", on the albums that followed, they began using outside songwriters and I felt the quality of the music began to deteriorate when they did that. Apparently they must have felt they didn't have enough strong songs to fill out their albums by themselves....
