Default More Japanese reissues (updated 12/18/2005)

With some of the talk of reissues recently, thought I'd give another heads up to some new ones I found on ebay and elsewhere.. Most of them are from P-Vine in Japan. I can't believe the number of disco albums they've reissued in the last little while..

Gregg Diamond/Bionic Boogie - Hot Butterfly hmv.co.jp
Apparently released a few days ago..

Thelma Houston - The Devil In Me hmv.co.jp
I really enjoy this album, couple of disco songs - "I'm Here Again" (AKA "Don't Leave Me This Way" part II) and "I Can't Go On Living Without Your Love"

Gloria Gaynor - Experience Gloria Gaynor hmv.co.jp

Tata Vega - Totally Tata hmv.co.jp
A disco artist for a time, but I'm not sure if this would really be considered "disco." For those interested, there are audio samples up on juno.co.uk

Boys Town Gang - Greatest hits (2 CD) hmv.co.jp
To be released Dec. 16. Not sure if there is anything really new on this one..

I haven't even bought any from the first round yet, but it's nice to know there's interest in putting them out. I wish they would have reissued some more Rinder/Lewis and perhaps Tata Vega's great 1979 album "Try My Love" instead, but these are still good :)

Hey neon, I for one appreciate you posting these. I'll be checking your post on this topic. Perhaps there is a gem I missed or even a replacement for a worn out album or 12". 8)

Hi Neon!!

These kind of posts are ALWAYS welcomed.

It seems Japan is a big market for disco.

And I'd rather listen to brand new "digital silence CDs" than to my old scratched vinyl albums!

Don't ever stop to post, whenever you see news!

The Greg Diamond album would be interesting, although I have an "issue" restored by a member of this board (with bonus 12" mixes) which I doubt will make it to the official japanese reissue.

I bought some of the listed CDs and found especially the sound quality was good. I don't know whether or not Japan is a good market for disco now, but actually Japanese record companies have recently released many disco compilations, including lots of 12'' versions, and reissues of disco artist.

Oooh, that's a good one. 'Mellow Mellow Right On' is the most popular cut from that record, and has appeared on comps, but it'll be nice to have the whole album on CD. I've got it and I like. More of a soul-dancefloor sound than pure disco.
