Default VOYAGE or SLAVE

Well, I'm a little late with this but better late than never right 8)
Yes topic Nazis, I know they're different but I like doing things differently
So you're stuck on an island with the love interest(s) of your choosing. Which group would like to hear during those special and not so special moments? :D

SLAVE

VOYAGE

Slave all the way and without a doubt. I really dug Steve Arrington Hall of Fame after Steve left in 1981. One track that's really underrated by them is Stone Jam.

Lime vs. Slave: Lime! Always liked the HNRG-outputs by these fine Canadians.

Slave vs. Voyage: Voyage! I don't like all the stuff they released but certainly "Souvenirs", "From East To West" are tatooed in my Discobrain.

Slave was OK but not more than that (IMHO that is)

I have the Best of Slave CD and it really shows how INCREDIBLY one-dimensional they were. O.K., let's have a slid bass note to start, where's the car hooter, oh and vibraslap, gotta have that? Only one track of their's really stands out as different...Stellar Fungk.

I have the Voyage, Best of CD and that shows how they tried too hard to be a little different (Scots Machine {not on CD thankfully}, Tahiti Tahiti, Kechak Fantasy etc). Rock instrumentation and intros with attitude DON'T mix with cooing chix and sugary sweetness. They really didn't know what they were trying to do, or so it seems to me.

Sooo, it's like trying to choose between piss and shit, add some lime and that's one neat cocktail for audio diarrhoea.

That's what I wanted to write. Instead I'll just say....
on balance, put me down for Slave.

This is easy paul. This is like saying you have a choice of a
Corvette or a Cobalt, which do you choose? I would definetly say Voyage

i guess I must've missed the first part of the question... how did LIME get into the mix?

anyways VOYAGE over LIME

SLAVE over VOYAGE

because I can handle both elements (disco or funk or funk/disco) whatever you want to call it. unfair choices!!!

Basically efunk, I fucked up when I originally posted this. In the topic subject I had Lime or Slave. Bernie and Johan caught it and immediately pimp slapped me. In fact Johan is still slapping me even after I corrected it

You gotta be kidding me.
Slave was very ingenious and original. How about "Snap shot", "Watching you", "Stone jam", or "Just a touch of love".
They also did instrumetals and had a unique production with Steve Washington's bass. Stone jam in my view is the best album of that era.
Another side-group that seems to get trashed is Aurra who later evolved into Deja. Many reviewers have said that their Salsoul 2CD anthology is overkill and mostly filler. I beg to differ. Even Steve Arrington had a cut with Aurra called "Summertime Lovin".
I guess Slave and all deviations thereof is like the Hi sound. It sounds very similar and only true fans can thoroughly appreciate it.

Eddie I worked in a club during this time period (r&b influenced) with Slave/Aurra as some of the bands that did well. STONE JAM was definitely a floor filler. AURRA's "ARE YOU SINGLE" and "MAKE UP YOUR MIND" ruled.
