| I will admit, I know some pretty deep people who love their classics, but this group is purely dedicated and I admire that greatly. Everytime I listen to DISCO it never ceases to amaze me how they were able to put the tracks together. The creativity, arrangement, vocals, lycrics and all just blows me away... still to this day. Got a wild hair the other day and put together some underground disco selects. I would love to hear about your top obscure disco favorites. Some of mine are: Donna - Art of Noise The End - Change Lucky - Donna Summer First Hand Experience in Second Hand Love - Giorgio Moroder Now I Need You / Midnight Shift - Donna Summer Disco Train - Dance Reaction Love Is In You - Nightlife Unlimited Magnifique - Magnifique (Disconet Remix) Automatic Lover - D.D. Jackson Dance, Freak and Boogie - Nightlife Unlimited Disco Choo Choo - Nighlife Unlimited You Can Get Over - Stephanie Mills Once In A lifetime (DMC Break for Love Remix) - Talking Heads Happy Station (Original Mix) - Fun Fun Listen http://www.virgolounge.com/1105_Disco_1.ram Standing In the Shadows of Love When you Walk In The Room - Ramming Speed Love and Desire - Arpeggio Hazy Shades of Love - Amant Glide (Francois Kevorkian Remix) - Musique I'm A Man - Macho Fire Night Dance - Peter Jacques Band Devil's Run - Peter Jacques Band Walking On Music Peter Jacques Band Singin' In The Rain - Sheila & B. Devotion Music In The Air - Macho I'm A Man (Break) - Macho Listen http://www.virgolounge.com/1105_Disco_2.ram Looking forward to reading your favs. Thanks, Houseman |

| I always dug Philly International, Salsoul, and Prelude which are not really rare but in the soul/disco click. I truly believe the best songs are the ones that never crossover and hit between 5 and 50 on the Billboard R&B charts. Here's a list of some examples. 1)Pockets-Come and go with me 2)Slave-Stone Jam 3)Steve Arrington Hall of fame-Nobody can be you but you 4)Jeanette Lady Day-Come and let me love you 5)Dennis Coffee-Scorpio 6)Brass Construction-We can work it out 7)Unlimited touch-I hear music in the street 8)Bobby Thurston-Check out the groove 9)Linx-You're lying 10)Linda Clifford-Never gonna stop 11) Cavier-I'll never stop loving you 12)Xavier-Work that sucker to death 13)Fazo-Good thang 14)Pleasure-Glide 15)Skipworth and Turner-Thinking about your love Disco music is much like kenburnsjazz in the idea that an outsider cannot conceptualize the whole thing with just reviewing big named artists. All of the artists I mentioned obtained their footing with related artists you probably know. Something's lost in the edits, remixes, and streamline comilations. |
