Default Disco Dancing

Is there any place in NYC or close by to enjoy a night of disco dancing--preferably a mature disco era crowd?

I don't know in the Big Apple, but if you ever come to Montreal, don't miss the "Funky Town disco club" located downtown, it's likely what you are looking 4.

It's only 5 hours drive from NYC ;-)

You think you got it bad.

My disco dancin is reduced to the kitchen while washing the dishes with my headphobes on. I have quite often performed a great 360 spin to find the misses standing there not in amazment but in pity. I do find the sink makes an excellent set of bongos so you can create your own percussion breaks between plates.

Jeez I must be blessed because until last week I got to Hustle with a hot younger one every Friday night to music I provided.

Tavares, Chic, Love and Kisses, The Ritchie Family, Voyage, Patrice Rushen...

"Brazil"!!!!

Since I'm moving to the Tampa area I'm gonna havta find a new dance partner.

Sh!t man, Colleen and I burned up the dance floor every Friday night - she "made an old man wish for younger days. She's a brick house..."

The Hustle's changed a lot in 30 years - it's now known as the "syncopated Hustle". But I can still spin a sweetheart across a dance floor... 8)

If you ain't got any headphobes you ain't lived. You can get them at Argos for 49p.They are headphones for the eyes. They simulate a nightclub atmosphere while wearing your headphones. Every now and then they puff ciggy smoke in your eyes or squirt some beer over your best shirt. A new version called bodyphobes will be out in the spring which simulate someone stepping on your toes or elbowing you in the back while dancing on a sweaty dancefloor. Well cool, the only drawback is they need 42 AA batteries to run and as yet only come in pink.

and I thought I was one of the only disco people left in the world. As a 40 something female I could use the disco dancing to stay in shape since it worked wonders back in the day.

Now I am reduced to blaring the classics on my stereo as I clean, vacuum, mop and do the dishes. That's the closest I have come to a dance partner in a long time.

I am a dancer too in search of somewhere to dance. I am taking a class called "Just Hustle" now. I had come across some websites in the past year but I don't have them now. I know that there is an annual contest in Atlantic City that was strictly hustle and disco dancing. I'll post it when I find it again.

Let me know if the class is fun as well as good and if they offer it in NYC.

Will look into the AC annual contest.

That's it! Click on Sanctioned Events and all the events will come up with a Disco America link. Thank you so much for the link. I had found it originally through Mid-Atlantic Dance Jam which I am familiar with in this area. I plan to attend the Mid-Atlantic this year.

It would be nice to meet or possibly dance with some others from this forum who like to dance. :)

Default NYC

I was amazed I visited the APT in NYC and downstairs was playing nothing but old disco tunes THP Orch. ,Cerrone,Constellation Orch ETC. I was amazed. The crowd was much young to actually party during the disco times but they were enjoying it and having a good time.
It was a one time event!!
