All of you obsessive list-maker fellas, I don't know about your countries but in mine 20th July is Friends Day. I suggest to pick disco songs about friendship.
Here's one: "Glad to know you", by Chas Jankel.
BTW, I wish all you virtual friends have a good Friends Day, even if you don't happen to celebrate it.

I pick "Weekend" by Phreeek.

GOT TO FIND A FRIEND/A FRIEND TO SPEND THE WEEKEND
(YOU KNOW I NEED SOMEBODY!)

PS: Happy Friends Day to you, too.

"Friends" and "friendship" were NOT real common themes in Disco songs, I'm coming to realize.

When I did my "toilet list", the possiblitites were limitless, but "friends" is not that easy.

What about "If My Friends Could See Me Now" by Linda Clifford--the discofied version of the showtune from "Sweet Charity"?

More of a gloating--I'd show them type of song, but, hey it mentions "friends", right?

Another song that comes to mind is "Real Good People" by Gloria Gaynor--BUT maybe that's more of an entertainer praising the audience type song, NEVER MIND!!!

Well, hush my mouth, I just thought of another one by Miss Linda Clifford, no less.

Her version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" qualifies. "If you need a friend, I'm sailing right behind".....

Did anyone ever discofy Carole King's "You've Got A Friend"?????

or "A Friend Like Me" from "Aladdin"?

or Cole Porter's "Friendship"?

"Yes", I DO have a tape with "Friends" songs on it--BUT geared for the kids, ya know.

Marky
You've made a valid point about "friend songs". I noticed that there are dozens maybe hundreds of songs about friends that betray you. But as I was trying to come up with "friends that do right by you" type of songs it comes in very few numbers. I can only think of these:

1.You Are My Friend - Sylvester
2.Lean On Me - ? (not disco)

How about "Meet My Friend" by Eddy Huntington?

"Meet my friend, he knows every little trick..."

Last time I heard it was in 1973, I was like 11 years old, along with the years, dad threw our scratched records in the garbage can. Recently, I did a search on audiogalaxy, now I have the 7inch record again ...on mp3 format. We've already paid for the record, so why should I need to pay again.

Sweet pick, DISCODISK. Gladys is so unique in style and voice. I still get chills when I hear "If I Were Your Woman".
