I'm so proud of providing "workday distractions" for my fellow members! I am an overaged slacker myself!

It makes me think of Bette Midler's ["No Frills"/1983] recording of Marshall Crenshaw's tune "Favorite Waste of Time".........

"Cuz you're mi-iiiiii-iiiii-iiiine
You're my favorite waste of time."

Couldn't find Bette--but here's another version by Owen Paul: (with pretty pictures!)

I'm your favorite waste of time! Too cool. Gawd knows I waste a lotta time too.

[Don't tell SanDee--he'll sic that scary-Susan-Boyle-woman-he-works-with on me--and she'll be trilling " Oh, Sweet Mystery of Life" at me!! or "I Dreamed A Dream"!!! Which is worse I wonder?]

Yeh, you'd better watch out Defad or Suzie B will come-a-callin' if ya carry on slackin', & next time I'll get her to sing something by Andrew Lloyd Weber! (cue evil laughing, thunder & howling wolves) (more punishment, less bondage...)...ahem....now I really must get back to work.

Oooohh tell Suzie B to sing something from Cats---that will make me wretch!!! Or maybe one of them Stephen Foster ditties like "O Dem Golden Slippers"!!!.....I'll puke to that!

Cloris Leachman ["Nurse Diesel"] & Harvey Korman [Dr. Charles Montague"] in "High Anxiety" (the source of the previous joke lines...)

Nurse Diesel heads the pecking order at the Psychotic Institute for the Very Very Nervous, Cloris Leachman is marvelous as usual and her cantilevered bras are a wonder to behold.

"Those who are tardy do not get fruitcup"

"Nurse Diesel is my right hand man, err woman

[I can't find the scene where Nurse Diesel takes away Dr. Montague's fruit cup from the dinner plate--because he's tardy!]

This scene is taken from Mel Brooks 1978 movie "High Anxiety". It depicts Nurse Diesel and Dr.Charles Montague engaging in a bit of adult after work activities.

Thanx 4 the clips! Personally 'High Anxiety' is my fave Mel Brooks film (but Blazing Saddles & Young Fronkensteen come close) & I also love the scene where Madeline Kahn (her again!) gets the dying guy call her & she thinks it's a heavy breather ('what are you wearing, tight jeans?) & the 'recreation' of the Psycho shower scene where Mel gets stabbed with a newspaper & he says 'that boy gets no tip' (so clever how the print runs down the drain like blood). Sorry to the non-M.Brooks lovers for this diversion but The 2 things that perk me up if I'm down are disco music & Mel Brooks films (& 'Fawlty Towers' episodes!, oh & farces like 'Whats New Pussycat' & 'Whats Up Doc', oh & 'Annie Hall'; OK it's more than 2 things!).

Oh SanDee, why aren't you my next door neighbor? We could be like Lucy & Ethel---listening to disco, dishing the dirt, dusting our slings and watching our fave movies.

I've only just seen the thread about 70s comedy & it's so weird how we do have very similar taste 'cos 'Annie Hall' is a definite fave of mine too! Ethel.x
