********************************************* Apologies to disco-disc...just a typo, but you gotta admit it is confusing since there is a Discodisk!!! Thanks for your help with the charts, also. ********************************************** Thanks thommy2458 for the kind words. I'm always impressed that you seem to actually remember it all--it's sota blurry to me! I always appreciate your input.

| Marky, I have to throw in my thanks for all the work you do. I would frequently log on just to see if there was an update from you. I hope there is some publisher out there who appreciates your work and contacts you. On a more personal note, you really have given a lot of validation to an unusual 14 year old who sat in his bedroom listening to, and reading about, stuff that bewildered his parents, aggravated his brother, and seemed odd to his friends. Looking forward to 1977! |

So were you listening to disco at the time it was popular --or later ? I don't know if you how old you are. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it and I'll get 1977 underway asap. I'm actually "excavating" a 1977 chart at the moment! And then I've got the movie "Maestro" (about Larry Levan & the Paradise Garage) cued up on the DVD player!

| "So were you listening to disco at the time it was popular --or later ? I don't know if you how old you are." I was 13/14 in 1976. So, the disco I was exposed to was on the pop and soul radio stations, Soul Train, American Bandstand, and magazine articles. Even then, I generally liked the more obscure stuff. For example, I remember seeing Arthur Prysock sing "When Love is New" on some music program just once, and it wasn't until I was in my thirties until I found out who sang it and was able to purchase a copy. |

To this day I still can't quite put my finger on why I was so drawn to it ????? I don't really remember it being much in the clubs I was visiting ... but memory may have faded regarding that .... ***** * and Disco Funk would probably say to that ..... a song produced by John Davis and written by Gamble & Huff ?? ... come'on!!

| hmmm, unlike discopsycho & remicks, I don't think I knew the Arthur Prysock record back then...I knew the name as he was a veteran performer like a Billy Eckstine--someone you might see singing "Moon River" on "The Mike Douglas Show" in the afternoon. (AP had his first Billboard R&B chart hit in 1952!) It appears he was on Old Town Records since 1960, at least.

| Thanks buddy for the wonderful reading material...Can't wait to see ya come back. I often found myself at the computer when things were slow at the job...and I would read through these fascinating tidbits...and concentrate on Carol Douglas or The Trammps instead of answering the phones. Thank you for being one of my favorite distractions.

| I'm with Kris . . . discomusic.com has got to be my consistently-favorite workday distraction. Hmmmm......so can we blame economic doldrums and decreased productivity on love for disco ??? Well, as one of the top hits stated (from that chart year you just spent nearly 4 years mincing, dicing and splicing): "So I put my blues upon the shelf . . .and I made up my mind to live and enjoy myself . . . so I went on down to the disco . . ." thanks, Marky, for your dedication to these detailed chart-year-posts where happy people always go |
