One correction/update to Mr. Marky's latest wonderful chart:
69) * I'M HYPNOTIZED/ * ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE - Frannie Golde
(Atlantic LP: 3:42/3:51)
Although those were the "official" charted titles, some of us in Chicago also played the pop-styled "Stop (And Look Around)" off the album.
Frannie Golde was a local singer who was big in cabarets and on the bathhouse circuit (how many other album credits include a "thank you" to Man's Country?). She had a pop chart single in '79 with "Here I Go (Fallin' in Love Again)," but has had more success as a songwriter, with a whole bunch of hits including the Commodores' "Nightshift" and Jody Watley's "Don't You Want Me." If anyone's interested, I'll post an album cover scan to the Vault.

Thanks tmob! ....I kept finding different spellings of her name!!! Dropped the "i" in her first name, after I saw it spelled without it... Wasn't sure which was correct and then I did a typo when I forgot the final "e" on Golde.

Appreciate the correction....want to get it right.

Default Re: 1976 Billboard Disco Compilation Consensus Charts!!!

Part #3: November 27, 1976

By The Numbers......

THE DISCO COMPILATION CONSENSUS TOP 40--PURELY BY POINTS:

Legend: (B) = bundled with other titles by Billboard; (B/U) = "Bubbling Under the Top 40"

Using the chart data from all 16 charts, including Montreal. Based solely on point totals of individual titles; in cases of point ties, the title on more charts gets precedence--if # of charts is the same, it's in alphabetical order and a {tie} /* = debut/ (R) = Return

Perfect score = 240 maximum points (15 points for a #1 x 16 charts)

OK, now let's check to see where this week's charted items rank in the
DISC-O-LA FORTUNE 500 ......

[first posted in the 3/26/76 column]

The rarefied air of the important CLASSIC records on the chart this week led me to take a look at their positions on the Disco-o-la Fortune 500 Discotheque Songs of the 70s list compiled by Ed Rothschild (with assistance from Johnny Tripp and Chipper McKearnin), that appears in its entirety in the back of Mel Cheren's book, Keep On Dancin': My Life and the Paradise Garage (2000); (Supposedly, this list came to fruition sometime in the Eighties; I don't know the specifics. The list goes back as early as the late Sixties for a few titles and then culls some from the early Seventies and stops at the end of
1979--no records from the Eighties are included--a few charted in 1980--but were actually released in late 1979)

I've proofread the charts for 11/27/76 and I think I've corrected the major typos, errors & ommissions--if you see something that doesn't look right, let me know, I can edit for another day or so....will add the "What's It All About" column next weekend.

4 more charts to go until 1976 is complete!
December 4, 11, 18 & 25/1976.

First before your editing time runs out ... is there a meaning to the way certain songs are bold/underlined and others are not on the DISC-O-LA FORTUNE 500 Rankings: ??? And why #408. LET'S GET IT TOGETHER is in fuchsia ??

The other thing is tmob's interesting info on this new entry getting local play out of Chicago :

69) * I'M HYPNOTIZED/ * ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE - Frannie Golde

Just wondering, seems Frannie Golde was perhaps to Chicago what Sharon McNight was to the San Francisco scene about then ....
