It's been an enormous amount of work --a daunting task--but I've completed it. I've learned a lot and I hope you enjoyed it.;)

Incredible job well done Marky!:D

When I first discovered this site, I was wowed by everyone's love, knowledge and enthusiasm for a music that I was naturally drawn to but when I came upon your charts, I was overwhelmed that someone had so much passion for this music that they had to, not forced into, but HAD to go through all the work of compiling bits of data in order to piece together these interesting charts.

These charts represent our history....something to help jog our memories of those glorious, free-spirited years. I love the fact that there are others who are just as interested in them as I am.

Big kisses Marky for being here! (gush gush)

Billboard published the 16th chart (Toronto/Montreal) but did not include it in their data for the Top 30-40--using the 15 U.S. cities data only.
Damn Canadians....they just never seem to want to follow the rules.;)

CONGRATULATIONS TO MARKY ON COMPLETING THE CONSENSUS CHARTS -EXCELLENT WORK, AND VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.:-)

(p.s. Is it possible to just close the loop by adding a chart for May 1st 1976 - I believe this is the only chart you did not give your usual style to ?)

Hi Markydefad:

Thank you very much Marky. You have done an extraordinary work. I know how much work you might have done doing this consensus charts.
You know, I have copied and pasted all charts, so I can read them whenever I want without the need to be "on line".
Once again... thank you so much.

Cheers,

Hessel

Thanks for the kind words of support from DiscoKicks (kisses backatcha!), Hessel, and Starsky. Starsky (always with the questions!! )--the May 1, 1976 column was printed in the usual format--but I also added the exact copies of the 6 Billboard charts from May 1, 1976, so folks could see where I got the data from--so scroll up before that and you'll find it. It's there. ;)

:oops::oops::oops: Curse these " bundled/ not bundled " confoundaries . Foiled again ! I was tired when I entered that OK …..:-P
Now I’ve looked again …..and sho ‘nuff .... there is DESTINY all by its lonesome.... just like its been for three weeks..... ( never mind )

Should’ve known you hadn’t missed it Marky …..:oops:

20) DESTINY - Candi Staton
(WB LP) (12 points/ E)
3 weeks on the chart/ Last week: #20 (+/-0)

6) YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE / RUN TO ME - Candi Staton
( WB 7" single/ LP / "RTM": 12" promo: 6:41) (31 points each / A___EF)
20 weeks / 9 weeks on the chart / Last week: #12 (+6)

By the way ......... its taken 20 weeks (five months ) But thanks to the album , YOUNG HEARTS RUN FREE has finally found its way to its rightful place into the upper reaches of the chart at #6 ...( and if we bundled   the entire album ....it'd even be at #4 ) ..... well deserved for that Candi classic :-) ... and with it being but a little ol' three minute + song too !

Ahhh...geez guys....you're making me blush.:)

Thanks to Jussik (the Euro-God of Disco), Fabio, and my ole pal Remicks for their kind words. :-D:-D:-D

I'm taking a break now--but I think I will do some more :-D:-D:-D...Sept 1976 - Dec. 1976 as the next project...I think I've figured out how to do it.

I'll do a parallel track type thing: 1) type the actual Billboard Top 40 as printed with a few added bits of info, # of weeks record charted, postion last week, etc. that they didn't add at first.....

2) Then, the following week or so-- type the complete breakdown of all the titles mentioned on all the separate city charts ( thus, a Disco Compilation Consensus Chart) with actual point totals for each track & not bundle titles from a certain artist's LP unless they have the exact same number of points. Billboard does bundle everything--so this will keep it somewhat different. This will be a long and laborious process--but I guess people do care and I like doing it--I just don't really have the time....but I shall try my best to keep up with it....just don't expect a chart on a weekly basis... m'kay???

You know Marky .....I was quite distraught when it seemed you were not going to continue with your compilations (yes --- distraught !!! ) But thought better of protesting too much .......after all , it's you that has to do all the work.
You produce such a nicely composed presentation ... so smoothly formated and easy to follow ... you make it seem misleadingly easy . When I realize how much work this is to pull off ..... not just the meticulous typing and editing ... which alone is mind boggling ......but the actual tabulating and research as well .... HELL yes that’s a lot of work.
Somewhere in my selfish reasoning I’m hoping you are getting even more pleasure from this than are folks like me receiving it ( although I’ve got to tell you that that’s an awful lot ! )
So, to me it seemed a shame to stop now …. with so much of '76 completed ..…. & so looking forward to your year-end computations and reviews ...
And even though Billboard has now changed format …. we still need you to sort it out !!! For one thing .....all those cities each listing their own TOP 15 songs ......now you know there are many tunes within there , not scoring enough points to appear on the national chart ( secret regional disco songs !!!!8) :D ) we need you to flush out .
But how much even more work does this all entail …. all those charts .... I don't know .... I can't blame you for questioning taking it on ... I've always offered to help …. still do ........even if just by cheering you on .......but I don't want you to be a slave to this either ....

I know I've already said thanks for all your hard work up 'til now .....but really it can't be said enough ... I use your info ALL THE TIME !! Thank you for moving like a chart making superstar ! :D 8-) :D

love,
remicks
