SHE was/is a wonderful singer (I DID think SHE was a HE when the Yaz stuff was first released).


What about a little screeching Canadian who sings like a yippy chihuahua with a lit firecracker up her ass.

Divine, I'll give ya, was pretty bad. I didn't want those records of his in MY collection--Camp-value or not. Some DID, however, BUT, I never paid for them. :roll:

Worst male voice, well that's easy Marshall Mathers (Eminem). His voice really bites my arse and is as irritating as scratching an itchy rash. Not only does his music suck, so does his voice.

Also Chris Isaac (Australian country/blues/rock artist) has a really bad voice because he moans like a dog when singing especially that awful song "Somebody's Crying".

Another bloke to mention is the lead singer of Korn (sorry Outsider). Reason being is before he starts putting the aggression in his voice he has this snivelly sort of voice which is very annoying moreso than his aggressive voice.

Lead singer of Slipknot has a super-awful voice because his voice is constantly aggressive and very roary "ROOOOAAAAARRRRR", which suites their style of death metal music. I like heavy metal such as AC/DC, Deep Purple and KISS, but I can't stand death metal because it's full of "ROOOAAARRR!!! ROOOAAARRR!!! ROOOAAARRR!!!" and sounds horrible.

And another guy that popped in my mind is one of the singers from Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention. I was watching the Sounds Of The 60's program on TV which show 60's clips from UK music and variety shows and one was Mothers Of Invention's "Who's This Guy". The guy singing it sounded like he sucked on a semi-trailer sized tank of helium just before singing that song, his voice was bloody awful. His voice is even higher pitched than Frankie Valli's when he was singing "Big Girls Don't Cry".

Worst female voice, first thing that comes to my head is that girl from Aqua who sings "Barby Girl". SO DAMN ANNOYING!!!!!!!!

Also Melanie has a pretty annoying voice when she sings "Brand New Key".

When it comes to worse female vocals, nothing beats "I Wanna Be A Hippy" by Technohead. The vocals might be Lee Newman's but I'm not sure. Still this is the second WORSE techno song I've ever heard, what comes at No.1 is that pathetic trashy piece of turd song "Hampster Dance" technofied ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

As for Divine, well I must admit I liked his version of Four Seasons "Walk Like A Man" because it was a great 80's high energy disco song.

Nope, the screechy voice on the Arpeggio records was Jessica Williams. Strangely, she didn't sound like that on her solo work, ("Queen Of Fools", "Gambling On Your Love") so blame Simon Soussan for making her sound like that on the Arpeggio records. Am I wrong????

Oh, and about Divine... of course he was horrible. That was the whole point. Now, I don't understand how that makes him camp... isn't camp supposed to refer to things that are unintentionally ridiculous and cheesy?

Oh, and I too think Alison Moyet is a great singer. The sound of her clearing her throat is more musical than most of today's dime-a-dozen divas could ever hope to be.

But I will concede that her giggle from Francios Kevorkian's dub mix of "Situation" has been lifted and reused in so many other tracks that it ought to disqualify any new release from club play... same as those James Brown yelps... IT'S BEEN DONE TO DEATH PEOPLE, MOVE ON!

Funky Dude, there's no need to apologize. It just a matter of taste. I like Jonathon Davis's singing, but like that's just my opinion.

As you could figure out, I also like this guy's singing (I'm a huge fan of theirs yet I don't know his name, I think his band number is 8, but don't hold me on that). I think his singing fits the type of music that Slipknot plays, and I love that aggressive sound of theirs. But again, that's just my opinion, and I've never been against people who don't feel the same.

As for singer I don't like, I've got a nice little list of my own:

I will stick with our music and nominate Francine McGhee!! Before you all jump up and down in protest, just wait a sec ....

Delirium is an outstanding disco record - easily in my Top 10 all-time faves! A true classic for the dance floor! But on the UK release, the Delirium that we all know and love was the B-side instrumental.

Flip it onto the A-side and you get Ms McGhee's vocal version of Delirium. Absolutely appalling!! The singing sounds more like a wailing banshee recorded in a lock-up garage across the road! Aaarrghhhh!!!
