Hello All,
I was messing around with Giorgio's "Cat People" soundtrack LP last night and i discovered something. Now, by the time this came out in late 1982, disco was going through its downfall in the mainstream. I knew that the last track on the LP was recorded at 45 RPM and played at 33 to get the sound for the scene in the film. Now, just about every other track (except the 2 tracks with Bowie) played at 45 RPM bring out the classic Giorgio disco sound, like the From Here To Eternity era. Very strange, but true. Pure eurodisco if you play this at that speed and it sounds correct. Like playing it at the right speed is the wrong speed. Now, on the i beleve 3rd track on side A you have to play with the pitch control. But, if you put it on 45 and pitch up to +10, you have almost like an unreleased track from the "Eternity" sessions. If anyone owns this LP. Try this, it's cool and you will be as shocked as i was. I think im going to use sections of this record for small instrumental breaks in disco mixes by playing at the wrong speed. Now, is this something i just discovered or is this old ass news. Id like to know.

Sounds interesting. What about playing another Moroder-produced film song, "Take my breath away", at 45 RPM?

Well,
Playing "Take My Breath Away" at the wrong speed wouldn't sound right. The vocals would be a little chipmunk like i beleve. All the tracks I were refering to on "Cat People" are instrumentals.
