Thanks for this. A lot of the 'same old story' but it's nice to see DISCO in the public eye. I was a little hurt and put off by Nicky Siano's 'grand tone' in the last paragraph. Damn, I haven't seen the man in so many years... Oh well, everything changes. I just hope he's true to his word and they party like hell!

"An energic performer"...SAY WHAT!!? Grinning and nervous twitching is what Nicky does while tweaking his numbingly predictable pre-recorded tracks. No sequing, no buildups, no artistry, no imagination, not a trace of any past glories. Do you want to hear the vocalist of Lipps Inc sound extra shrill? Nicky can give you that but sadly not much else. If the present Siano sets is what was presented in Detroit as prime examples of deejaying by a legend, those present got a pretty poor idea what disco was/is all about. Nicky also bombed horribly in Stockholm recently. Somebody please make the man stop.

Jussi, I remember you had similar words after Nicky played in Seatlle, I believe it was. If what you're saying is true (and I have no reason to believe it isn't) then I guess my 'hero' is no more. I learned so much just listening to him while working The Gallery door and watching him after we locked up at 5:30 in the morning. Sounds like he should have bowed out gracefully some time ago. :(

It's not really nice to badmouth someone like I do but I cannot comprehend why the people behind the disco exhibit who put so much skill, effort and obvious love to their faultless presentation are under the impression what Nicky does qualifies as deejaying. I happen to be exchanging the occasional email with a guy close - nudge nudge - to Nicky and he tells me Nicky indeed simply uses a standard cd deck and a recorder with a pause button to construct his "sets". The one I heard in Seattle was the absolute worst I have ever experienced in my life, and that includes beginners nights and free decks specials. But enough, sorry about this...
