 Van McCoy Tribute in Washington DC Event: Van McCoy: 25th Year Legacy Tribute Date: Saturday, July 31st Place: Theodore Roosevelt High School 4301 13th Street NW (Washington, DC) Time: 4pm-6pm Honorary Chair: The Honorable Linda W. Cropp Washington, DC Council Chairman Purpose: To celebrate the life and legacy of Grammy Award winning artist, Van McCoy, best known for his time-less classic “Do The Hustle” that helped launch the disco era. Also this event is a kick-off for ongoing initiatives to bring music education back into DC Public Schools, along with other schools and educational outlets across the country. Performances: Melba Moore (Tony-Award Winner & Grammy Nominee) Herb Fame of the popular duo “Peaches & Herb” Dorothy Norwood (Gospel legend) 2004 International Hustle Champions DC Amateur Hustle Champions Ellington Performing Arts Choir And more Expected Attendance: 1,000 Admission: Free to the public V.I.P.
