| Hi Two fantastic releases coming up on Monday 5th September from us here at Licorice Soul: LSD009, Proud Mary, a beautiful psych/folk/funk 45rpm single and LSD010T, Larry McGee Revolution, a banging dancefloor funky disco 12" that's doing the business on dancefloors around the UK right now. Licorice Soul Records LSD 010T Format: 33rpm 12" vinyl EP Release date: Monday 5th September 2005 Artist: Larry McGee Revolution Title: The Burg [Nick Faber Edit / Original Version / Fat Camp Re-edit / Bonus Beats] Limited edition of 500 copies http://www.licoricesoul.com/snd/lsd0...d010t-burg.mp3 Little did Pittsburgh guitarist Larry McGee realise when he recorded this song back in 1976 what a stir it would create thirty years later. A local hit at the time, it was stifled by poor distribution and was largely forgotten until copies started to surface on the soul and funk scene recently. An immediate dancefloor hit due to its punchy production, outstanding musicianship and uplifting vibe, this is a record that has timeless club appeal. This, the first Licorice Soul 12" single, includes four fully remastered tracks - the original version of the song, a bonus beats breaks track for producers and DJs, and two old school disco edits courtesy of top UK DJs Bill Brewster (author of 'Last Night A DJ Saved My Life' and 'How To DJ Properly') and Nick Faber (remixes include Kylie and Sugababes). Heavily promoted over the summer festival season, this 12" has seen spins at Glastonbury, Lovebox, The Big Chill and more, alongside radio play on stations including the BBC and Itch FM - it's about to go massive on soul and funk soundsystems at London's Notting Hill Carnival this weekend! Side A features 'The Burg': a punchy, club-friendly Nick Faber edit that highlights Nick's dirty, big funk sound. Alongside the Nick Faber edit there's the original mix, only ever released on a rare Boogie Band 7" single out of Pittsburgh in 1976. Side B features 'The Burg': a classic old school disco edit courtesy of Bill Brewster and Paul Noble, tipping a nod to the Latin Rascals and Danny Krivit. Alongside their Fat Camp re-edit there's a bonus beats track that loops the killer break. LICORICE SOUL release reviews appear in the UK's Mojo, Grand Slam, iDJ, DMX Update, Record Collector etc along with European and RoW press coverage. Radio play on leftfield dance and breaks stations from BBC Radio, Itch FM, Resonance 104.4FM etc with regional support from specialist shows. Club play through influential funk clubs like Jelly Jazz, Breakin' Bread, Hogwash, Jazzman Live, Hot Funky & Sweaty, Divine, Motherfunk etc. Licorice Soul Records 15 Farnham Drive Oakfield Lodge Darlington Co.
