| Looks inspired by the '69-'70 models' style. Flip-up headlamps would be cool, but I don't suppose they'll do that - international market regulations... Sad everybody has to look to the past to produce anything stylish nowadays. Whether automobile, music, fashion design... As long as they stay away from the ugly cheap Jap bubblecar style... I'll stop now before I turn into a REAL old fart!

| Well, I'm not totally sure. If Johan is correct, and they're planning to introduce it to the European market, they've probably taken Euro regulations into account. And Euro regulations are NOT homogenous yet. Each country has its own laws, which on paper are superseded by the almighty Euro regulations...unless the home country doesn't feel like enforcing them. I can't really speak for countries other than France, because I don't know them well enough, but I believe the pop-up/flip headlight features were forbidden in France, at least at one time. The only Lincoln Town car ('77) and Mercury Marquis ('75, 460 cu.in.) I've seen in France were direct imports, and had to be passed with the flip lights blocked open. I've heard of others importing from Germany, EEC country where they're legal. I'm not sure what current legislation is, however. French means of deterring U.S. auto imports included 100% import tax, forbidding white headlights, mandatory orange rear turn signals, mandatory suppression or blacking out of side markers, forbidding of whitewall tires, plus mechanical restrictions etc... If power steering and windows hadn't been present on top-of-the-line french cars, they might have been outlawed as well. Now, Euro legislators' and French automakers' pressures have changed what's allowed, so there's a big question mark as far as I'm concerned. Maybe the answer's here: ![]()
