That SLR is a beautiful car Johan. Mercedes actually brought back the Gull-Wing from the 50s! Is the SLR a V8 or V12 and how was it driving that baby?

It's a V8 Bernie, and the amazing thing: I have a Brabus SL-K8, like the one in this pic but mine's grey metallic and that's already a spiced up Merc SL.

But when you are driving the SLR, I could very quick realise the immense difference between a road and a (almost) racecar.

I've driven it on the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps F1-circuit under supervision of a testdriver from Mercedes-Benz. While I was very scared to damage the car, I drove a quick lap but then he took over and really raced with it and the experience during those rounds: WOW!! Now, I've had the chance to drive Ferrari's and the Lamborghini Murcielago but as I am very large, I'm absolutely not comfortable in those cars that's why I always had a preference for Porsches. Mercedes combines those 2:power and comfort. It was a great hour :D but financially this one's is way out of reach for me

I still love looking at the '63 split window Vette as well as the '71 Stingray's with the thin chrome bumpers!

So true. There's no way I would trade my trusty Toyota Camry XLE for any GM or Ford car.

I think the biggest problem for Ford and GM aren't quality as much as the quarterly bottom line. With the bright and creative people at these companies, it seems they are forced to use their talents for what's hot now. Then when the trend changes, they are stuck. They had to know the gas guzzling SUV thing had to come to an end but I'm sure the execs and the board of director types couldn't see beyond the gobs of money they were making off those behemoths.
Here's an interesting article about reliability.
