Forgive me, if these are obvious, but they are strange and new to me:

1975:

BANDELERO - Juan Carlos Calderon (Epic)
RUN JOHNNY - Jimmy Maelen ( Epic)
KARAMBANI - Buari (RCA)

1976:

AMERICAN MUSIC - Jeanne Burton & Dooley Silverspoon (Cotton)
SUGAR BOOGIE - Bobby Thomas & Hot Line (MCA)
BE MY BABY - Frankie Gee (Lipstick)
A TIME FOR CELEBRATION - Faith, Hope & Charity & Choice Four (RCA)
DANCING FREE - Hot Ice (Rage)
BLACK SOUL MUSIC - Black Soul (Beam Junction)
NEW YORK CITY - Miroslav Vitios (Warner Bros. LP)
HOW'S YOUR LOVE LIFE - Lee Eldridge (Mercury)

1977:

EXPRESS YOURSELF/HAVE A GOOD TIME - N.Y Community Choir (RCA 12 inch) I think this is on one of those RCA compilations.
SPANDISCO - Love Childs Afro-Cuban Blues Band (Midsong LP)
FUNKY TROPICAL - Biddu & His Orchestra (Epic LP)
YOU SHOULD BE DANCING - Gene Farrow (Magnet Import) Is this a cover of the Bee Gees?

Hello Marky:

At least one of them is in my old tapes.
Time for Celebration by Faith, Hope & Charity, they sing like this "This is a time for celebration show the proud that you fell in your nation..." and so on. Also at the middle of the song there is the USA anthem.

Hope this helped. Thanks again for the billboard charts...

Cheers,

I have this one. I think it was only released as a 7". It's a seriously high-cheese cover of the old Ronettes song, with falsetto male vocals. Let's just say that time has been much kinder to the original.

This is actually a track from his "Eastern Man" LP, which isn't too hard to find (at least not where I live).

Dear Markydefad!
GENE FARROW´S "You Should Be Dancing" is
not(!) a coverversion of the BEE GEES.
It´s HappyDisco(from UK Think) with lots
of percussion and a very commercial catchy
refrain. Also hear "Move Your Body"...

"Express Yourself" is on the "Groovin You" Big 12" compilation.

I have "A Time For Celebration" on a tape from 1976. I think it was recorded in honor of the Bicentennial.

Marky,
I have this song by LOVE CHILDS AFRO-CUBAN BLUES BAND on a 12" (RCA records - 1977), but it's on the B-side in a medley mix with SPANISH HARLEM. (writtten by Phil Spector!) I think this b-side is a bit cheezy, not my kinda disco.
The A-side has a discofied version of Tito Puentes OYE COMO VA. It's is not bad, but the track is much to long: 9'56.
Both sides are produced and arranged by Michael Zager.

I think you're wrong. I also own this mix but in the lp track list there are both "Spandisco" and the medley whom the exact title is "Spanish Harlem/Dancin' To Spandisco"

1975:
BANDELERO - Juan Carlos Calderon (Epic)
-This was a big club and sales chart hit in Europe, very much in the Bimbo Jet vein.
KARAMBANI - Buari (RCA)
There was a brief "Burundi Beat" phase in clubs around this time, meaning polyrhythmic, exciting but to most punters a bit hard to dance to tracks, with furious slamming percussion and chanting voices. The biggest title was "Burundi Black" and even after the intial phase passed these French-produced cuts by African artists continued to get spins in hipper joints. The fast flying beats of the Hi-Life style was the next big step.

1976:

AMERICAN MUSIC - Jeanne Burton & Dooley Silverspoon (Cotton)
The duo also did a rather lovely track called "Am I Losing You" the same year
DANCING FREE - Hot Ice (Rage)
This is now in hot demand as a break and according to house djs sometimes played in it's entirety as well. I only have a 7" and nobody else seems to be in possession of any 12-inchers either. Was there one?
BLACK SOUL MUSIC - Black Soul (Beam Junction)
Another popular French Afro combo.
NEW YORK CITY - Miroslav Vitios (Warner Bros. LP)
Earsplitting electric guitar makes this otherwise interesting jazzfunk fave a bit of a strain. Quite big in groove clubs now.
HOW'S YOUR LOVE LIFE - Lee Eldridge (Mercury)
I got this from Majorca, Spain, where it was spinned in every club during the '76 summer season. Can anybody remember the "Superstar" club in El Terreno -?

Wow, I feel like I have the world's experts on Disco as my own personal advisors. Thanks everyone.

I guess the European influence was wider spread than I previously was aware of. Seems most of these records had origins somewhere on that continent.

Well, they weren't topping the charts here in the U.S.--BUT they were selling enough in the NYC retail stores to make their sales lists.

Thanks again for all that info.

I am a funky disco fan and these are well known to me:

Quote:
1975:

KARAMBANI - Buari (RCA)

Great afro funk from an extremely sought after album on RCA of this african percussionist / drummer

1976:

BLACK SOUL MUSIC - Black Soul (Beam Junction)
French production on Vogue remastered in NY by the Maestro himself Tom Moulton

NEW YORK CITY - Miroslav Vitios (Warner Bros. LP)
Disco outfit from this jazz cellist. A must for the afro funky disco lovers. It also exists as promo only 12" on WB.
Much to my surprise, I hear this being played (in the original version) in a house set no later than 1 week ago.

1977:

EXPRESS YOURSELF/HAVE A GOOD TIME - N.Y Community Choir (RCA 12 inch) I think this is on one of those RCA compilations.

This is a Classic!!

SPANDISCO - Love Childs Afro-Cuban Blues Band (Midsong LP)

From the likes of Michael Zager

FUNKY TROPICAL - Biddu & His Orchestra (Epic LP)

Great funky drummer track that I recently found on 12" (ASD 348 Epic)

Bandolero, Juan Carlos Calderon made two albums exploring the sound of Philadelphia, Bandolero is a experiment with a nice spanish guitar, but long better than the Bimbo.
