Default Esther Phillips

I have a version on a "Best of" comp w Esther's "What A Diff'rence A Day Makes" (a personal fav!), and was wondering if there was 12" or is this the album version clocking in @ 4 min 22 secs?

that's the LP version. there was never a US 12", but there was a slightly longer version on the Hot Classics series of Hot Tracks.

Thanks, you guys! I will keep my eye out for either. It is unfortunate that Hot Tracks discontinued the Classics series.

I agree DiscoDisk. Both these reworkings by Hot Tracks miss the mark. The Emotions track starts out fine but mid-way in someone got a little too slap-happy with the vocal 'stabs'. They are so off-beat it's a sure-fire dancefloor loser. As for Esther, well, good intentions and nice extension on the intro. However, it seems Hot Tracks ignores the key-change in the song as they plug-back the beginning to extend the fade-out. Dreadful. :x

hey guys, shouldn't be doing this i spose, but not happy with the LP/7" version or otherwise, i made my own extended version of that very song (Esther) in the late 90's. interested? i'm sure all you guys would dig it, very faithful to the original (no additional production) and it's great to mix with.

yeah, I've heard BB's mix and use it on the odd special occasion. It's very faithful, very user friendly and should be on vinyl in my opinion. Pisses all over the Hot Tracks mix by a mile...

Default 2 things

There was a BBC show about dance music round about '77 where a guy dances to this (in a northern soul way) and I've never been able to get it on video..does anyone know what show it was?
And how do we get a copy of this re-edit? It's always been one of my favourite songs.
