Default please help me to identify this song

This is a typical R&B disco dance song, female singer, one line is repeated in the chorus "If you really cared about anyone else".. then it's repeated with "you know you wouldn't leave me" Same melody is repeated with the line, "if you really cared about more than yourself, you know you wouldn't leave me"
Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks!!

It took me a few times of repeating that phrase...BUT I think I'm hearing Miss Patti Austin singing "Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me" from Quincy Jones's (is that right?--or is it Jones' ??? ) "The Dude" LP.

"If you really cared about anyone else
I betcha wouldn't hurt me...
if you cared about anyone else
I know you wouldn't go" (something like that)

I love that track (in fact the whole LP!); another Stevie Wonder classic.

The Dude is one of my favorite albums, especially the title track and the beautiful Somethin Special, classic stuff!

I totally love 'Something Special' as well! I remember reading a review of the LP when it came out in '81 & they thought that track was the weakest one but I disagree as it's lovely. I also love 'Velas'- a more beautiful, haunting slow instrumental I've never heard. 8)

Oh...IF ONLY the music production styles of the early 1980s would come back. Those jazz-tinged R&B records produced by Quincy Jones & Jay Graydon & Bob James & Joe Sample & various members of The Crusaders, etc.--- still sound soooooooooo good today.
:D :D :D

Why can't someone revist that style???   :( :( :(

I've asked myself that question many times Marky (it's a scary habit of mine :o ) & I've come to the conclusion that nobody in the business has the time, talent or money to make this truly quality music any more. Why bother when you can sample an old Chi-lites track (or any classic artist for that matter), get in an unknown rapper & bribe someone at MTV or radio stations to put it on heavy rotation. (cynical, moi? :x )

Sorry to disappoint you all, but there's not much chance of any mainsteam acts producing something as lush as The Dude album. The electronic genie is out of it's bottle, never to return. Nowadays, it's all too easy to produce something highly commercial in a studio the size of a teenager's bedroom. Although...if you listen to certain specialist radio shows, you will hear some modern artists who've composed really classy tracks. Seek and ye shall find. Another stumbling block to the advancement of good music is the price of CDs. Espesh imports. If you wanna but some good jazz fusion by say, Bob James, it'll cost you a good twenty odd quid. :-?

'Razzamattaz' was the A side to 'Something Special' in the UK, and did some serious business in the charts during the summer of '81. Other hits here from that LP were 'Betcha Wouldn't Hurt Me', and 'One Hundred Ways' with vocals supplied by Jeffrey Osbourne
