Hello all! I am just wanting confirmation on the following please: In the disco-house track by Solitaire ("I Love Love") I am under the impression that this current track samples ex-Chic diva, Norma Jean, and her track "I Like Love" (off her solo 1978 album, Bearsville Records, USA, BRK 6983). Can someone please clarify exactly what Solitaire extract from Norma's original tune? Maybe the funky guitar riff and vocal phrases, of which I am assuming it is? Hope someone can help? Keep smiling, styling & profiling!!! herbz12

Hey. It does sample Norma Jean. Not sure what parts, but it defiently does, according to the ministry of sound website.

Yes boogie nites, am aware of Norma Jean being taken to the cleaners on this dance cut! I have since picked up her album - produced by the Chic Organization, naturally - and Solitaire completely ripped the track off! Everything from guitar riffs, vocal sample, keyboard, bassline, though Solitaire's use of the Millie Jackson-like live vocal over the above-mentioned samples is a mystery now? Anyone with any info regarding the overdubbed narration samples in Solitaire's "I Love Love" would be of utmost respect. Thank you herbz12 (from Oz!) :)

Hiya boogie! I am totally over the track because of Channel 7's blanket advertising, though I actually heard the track some 6 months ago now. After recently purchasing Norma Jean's self-titled LP (second-hand), I much prefer the original disco version that wasn't released as a 12" back in the disco era, and can only be found on that album. I'm actually from the Westside (Perth)!!! Regards, herbz

Cool, I am on the sunshine coast near Brisbane. If u r ever here let me know, we can search for the non existent disco nights together. I am a dj in practice, its my goal to get disco back on track here in Qld. I am 20, so I'm hoping to rope in some of my peers and get them thinking, (or knowing) that DISCO ROX!! Dance ya ass off

Hey there again, boogie! I am, cough!, cough!, in my early 30's and have been a club/radio deejay here back in the 90s. I only really do friends' parties these days, but have, what i think, is a substantial collection of soul, funk, jazz and disco 12"s, albums & CDs, so I'm still always on the hunt for some of the rarer tracks of the 70s/80s. I was also a music journo (freelancer) back then, so have done many an interview in the past. (Though none with anyone from the 'classic' disco era; more contemorary artists/djs, etc). How's your spinning going? What disco tracks do you rate as your personal faves then? Regards, herbz!
