Song ID from SCTV

[Disco Funk]

I've been trying to find out if the theme to this SCTV skit, Mel's Rockpile, was previously released. I think they started using it in '80, so the track might have been from '78 or '79.



Incidentally, this was the episode that I tried to get a break identified, the one at 3:37 during the dance contest. I later found out it was from the Canadian artist Hydro, called 'Keep It Comin'. The song before that was also from them, on the same LP. But that theme tune to Mel's Rockpile wasn't on that record.

Any help would be appreciated. The end of Part 2/2 also has the theme tune (at 5:10)

If no one knows the answer, I would try emailing somebody at Shout Factory. They put the SCTV DVDs out. As members of the ex- Rhino staff- they had to do plenty of music clearances to get the series out- and I am sure that somebody has the answer. They might have even answered it already on the Shout Factory forums (just thought of that)?
