Default driving me mad!

Ive had this song kicking around in my head for ages...
I wonder if anyone can help identify it?...
Some of the lyrics go like this...

Cant slow down,
baby won`t you please slow down
you got-ta, you got-ta (cant slow down)
baby wont you please slow down

Its a fast paced disco classic about 1979?.

Id love to know what it is
Thanks for any info

Actually, my label says 1976. The cut is from the lp "Stranger In The City". There was also a 12" on the London Disco label.

Just looked this guy up on AMG. Color me shocked: Never knew he was a Brit; could have sworn he was a Brother :) . Obviously bigger in the UK than the US. Tell me, was his other music similar to "Slowdown" or was this just a club entry for him? Any other hits besides this and "Music" (which I don't remember)?

mister nicknack,if you heard music first you would have known he wasnt a brother, musics so totally different to slow down dont go backpackin round the world to search it out if youre thinking its gonna be like the other., john had a handful of hits in the u.k. he first came to light in the early 70s he recorded a motownesque type dance record "one minute every hour" on the small orange label, one minute every hour is all i need, two minutes every day is.......[you get the picture!] it got plays in clubs but didnt really sell,so john sort of could do it, but a brother he aint
