Default Sing Sing Tequila ?! where'd this Calello mix come from

I'm looking for the source of this mix, specifically the middle bit. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze25vww/singsingtequila.mp3

This was recorded off the air, perhaps thirty years ago. The beginning and end are from Charlie Calello's "Sing Sing Sing (With A Swing)" (specifically the version from the Midland 12", not the one on Calello Serenade which has a different intro), but the middle chunk is a remake of the old Champs' song "Tequila". I think this was in fact the first version I ever heard of "Tequila", and it's still my favourite.

I dunno if this was a commercial release, or something the radio station cobbled together on its own; the band does sound the same, but remember that this agglomeration of studio cats also recorded under various other names (backing such artists as Michael Zager, Meco Monardo, Sherwood Goffin, probably a few more I can't remember) so there's no guarantee that it's officially the same "band".

I posted on alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.disco, but nobody there seems to know about it; __Pulse__ suggested someone here might know, so here it is. Any suggestions?

Whatever version of Tequila it is, it's definitely mixed/spliced into Sing, Sing, Sing. Two different records, here.

If it was mixed, Think it would be with:

D.J.F.T. Band - Ole-Oh Tequila

It also got a spoken "Tequila" in it, lower in voice, but to match key/speed it can it.

I see that one at D.J.F.T. Band - Ole'-Oh Tequila (Side A). I haven't heard it, but it doesn't seem like that's the right song, for three reasons: one, it came out in 1984 and this tape is from 1980. Two, the length isn't right - if they'd sped it up that much it would sound like mickey mouse, and three, the songwriting credit would have to say "C. Rio" (pseudonym for Danny Flores). Of course that last doesn't mean anything, they may have just stolen it...

Incidentally I asked Charlie Calello himself, and his response:

Quote:
Sorry I can't be of help because I never heard the disco version of "Tequila." Back in the day, DJs cut records together to make their own mix as they do today with wedding DJs. These versions were never registered for sale so there was no Harry Fox, ASCAP and/or BMI information to track them down. If the station is still in business they may still have a version.
So apparently the middle bit wasn't his. Taking his suggestion, I emailed the current incarnation of WKTU, and we'll see if anyone answers me from there; they haven't yet.
