Default New York Cit-aayy!

I remember a mellow track with cow bells And someone told me it was "New York New York" by Norman Connors, but I've been unable to find it on his albums. It's from about 1979 (i think), and in the chorus the male vocalist sings something like "...New York, New York, New York Cit-aay."

Anyone know it?

Just a guess, but it sounds like it could be Black Diamond's "New York City Dream." It definitely has the cowbells, and the chorus is pretty similar to what you describe.

It could be Starship Orchestra (Norman Connors band) "New York,New York".From the lp "Celestial Sky" `80 Columbia Records.

Never on cd and pretty hard to get on lp.

How about the Nuggets on Mercury records. The Black Diamond song is dominated by Tara's vocals...but I agree, the cow bells are strong enough to have left a lasting impression. I would not call it mellow. It moves at about 130 bpm.

Yeess!!
You beauty. You've made an old guy happy. Plus, after a 5 minute search, I was able to DL the whole LP for free. Don't worry Bernie, I won't say where.

Thanks to all you guys.

While listening to T.S.Monk's 'Bon Bon Vie' the other day the male singer pronounces it 'New York Cit-ay' too - was this a popular way of saying it back then?
