| Thank you so much. This was driving me crazy. I did a search and found them but I can't seem to find the song anywhere to listen to or download "buy". Can anyone provide some help here? This is such a great resource. I am looking for other songs played at the disco's from the same time. If you can toss me some names and artists I would appreciate it. I have Barrabas "woman" and The Mexican by Babe Ruth and of course Girl you need a change of mind. I still remember the lights and energy!!! thanks again |

| of course, "I Like What I Like" is one I don't have...used to have it in my Napster files...but checking AMG... I found this.... [not sure if it's still available, but it appears a cd was released in 2002 and it had a LONG version of the song...I have seen the reissued LP...but I didn't know the timing...so I didn't buy it...there was a short version and then there was a longer version with a long drum solo intro...the latter was the one people wanted...I had that in my Napster files...but they are all lost now.].. good luck!!! | OK, that was the good news...here's the BAD NEWS:...buy at your own risk...see the customer reviews!!!! Anyone know the truth?...is the original version on this??? first review says no...the other two don't say that.... Also note the track listings don't match the ones at AMG!!! Track Listings 1. I Like What I Like 2. Funky Granny 3. Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You 4. Funky Gene-Ra-Tion 5. Everyday People Doing Everyday Things 6. Who's Gonna Take the Weight/Who's Gonna Take the Blame 7. Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So-La-Ti-Do 8. Mama Said -- Papa Said (Too Young to Marry) 9. Magic Man 10. Gold Smoke 11. Get Down -- Get Stank 12. Bump, Pts. 1-2 13. I Like What I Like [Remix] 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: DO NOT BUY THIS CD IF..., September 24, 2004 By Michael Sean (Amherst, NY) - See all my reviews ...you are like me and wanted the "I Like What I Like" cut. When I wrote my pervious review you could preview the tracks. The track that I previewed on the site was the original track from the original album. The CD I received DID NOT have the original "I like what I like" track even though that's what the web site had in the preview. It had a very lame and shortened version without all the orchestration from the original album track. The impression that you get is that the group found themselves running out of money and decided to rerecord this piece of garbage. It's interesting that Amazon no longer allows you to preview the tracks on the CD. False advertising? It's too bad there's no choice for zero stars. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Solid funk album., November 17, 2000 By Matthias Mazzag (Fredericton, New Brunswick Canada) - See all my reviews This is a little known band from Canada in the early '70s. They were on the same label with Kool and the Gang, and in fact they cover 'Who's Gonna Take The Weight' on this album. Otherwise this CD is pretty much in the vein of the Kool and the Gang recordings of the same era (Live at the Sex Machine, Live at PJs), with a somewhat shabbier musicianship. Don't let this scare you away though, they still rock hard, with some great grooves and some b3 lurking in the background on nearly every song.Highlights: 'Funky Granny', 'Funky Gene-ra-tion' and the instrumental 'Mama Said-Papa Said (Too Young To Marry)'. I Like What I Like, August 22, 2004 By Michael Sean - See all my reviews The cut "I Like What I Like" is worth the price of the CD in my opinion. We used to dance to this at "The Bakery" in Niagara Falls NY way back in my youth and I bought it again just to bring back the memories.

| I'm like Woodward/Bernstein...tracking down the facts!! found this info on GEMM: The Original "Everyday People" from Canada!! Their album has been professionally remastered to CD in 2004, featuring the hit song " I Like What I Like" plus extra tracks that were not on the original vinyl release (15 songs total)!! The album was originally released in 1970 on Paramount records in the USA, and GRT in Canada. The CD was remastered by "Bruce Wheaton", the singer, songwriter, guitarist and founder of the band. \ THE EVERYDAY PEOPLE The Everyday People (Scarce 80s US 2nd issue of the mega rare 1973 11-track funk classic which also features Kool & The Gang on two tracks picture sleeve. | I have been having success on tracking down a bunch of great songs from the day. I used to dance to "I like what I like" at Pegasus and Kontiki in New York. The album at Amazon which is also on Ebay shows a black group as "Everyday People" But Bruce Wheaton and the original group is white. Everyday People I have tried all over with no luck so far. Thanks for all your help. You were the first to recognize the song. |

| hmmmm....now that is interesting....I assumed the group was Black also...and the LP cover shows Black guys on it...so is Bruce Wheaton a white guy??? I'm confused...how could there be two Everyday People groups who both had a hit with "I Like What I Like" --one group being white guys from Toronto and the other being Black guys on the LP cover????? Anyone know the truth????

| Unless there were two Everyday People groups and the databases are mixing up their credits? IMDB has been known to do that. Two actors with the same name sometimes get their credits mixed...remember when there were two actresses with the name Vanessa Williams; one being the former Miss America who's now on "Ugly Betty" and another one who was a regular on "Melrose Place."....whatever happened to the latter one I wonder? Also, IMDB mixed up the credits of two Marilyn Coopers...one was an actress in the Forties & married to actor Sabu and the mother of Paul Sabu and the other was a NY based musical comedy character actress who was in "West Side Story" and "Woman Of The Year"....but their credits were merged together!!! Maybe the Canadian Everyday People is being credited with "I Like What I Like" and it was actually another Black group with the same name??? I'm just askin'?????????

| the one on amazon is by a different group. if you scan down the page i just gave you http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/~bwheaton/ you'll find the right group with the right album and the right song. see? there's even an email link to inquire how to buy the album, presumably from Bruce Wheaton himself. i've not done it, but i can verify WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINLY that THIS is the song fokneel is looking for. i was playing it on RadioioDisco from a CD-R i had made of the original album — OF COURSE! |
