I was watching 'Moscow on the Hudson' when a song I’d disco skated to many times started playing. I believe it began when Robin Williams was saying goodbye to his friend that worked at Bloomingdales and was heading out of state to be with his kids.

The song has a somewhat bawdy beat like Gap Bands ‘Dropped the Bomb’ and starts with a perfectly recorded train whistle. In back of my mind I thought ‘Everybody aboard the [?] love train, but could not identify the song title or artist. They only played a short intro, but not enough to clearly identify the song unless you really know it. I just love when that happens!

It’s a song that doesn’t allow feet to stand still, and makes me want to jump immediately up to dance with depraved abandon…

Does anyone know the song I’m trying to recall? I’d love to add it to my music.

The Gap band made a track in 1983 that is called "Party Train". It starts off with a whistle and some train sounds.

It's on "Gap Ban V - Jammin' " (Total Experience , 1983)

That might be the one you're searching for.

K-Bee,

Cannot thank you enough!

Still can't get over how close I was to figuring it out myself. I had the Gap Band funk & genre right, but didn't equate it as one and the same band oddly enough. Somehow I realized that 'love train' wasn't exactly right though.

Am heading out to get a copy of 'Party Train' right now after already listening to it on Amazon.com and verifying that you are correct. The Gap Band did crank out some excellent dance tunes.

Good call!
