Default Blue Skies circa 1979

I once heard a disco cover version of the old standard that went "Blue skies shining on me, nothing but blue skies do I see". It was played during a disco scene in the made for TV movie remake of "Topper". It had a female vocalist and more or less generic disco treatment but I remember I really liked it.
Anyone ever see a disco release of that song by anybody?

sidenote:One of Charlie's Angels played the lead in the movie, Kate Jackson I think.

An "Old times medley" on the first Wing And A Prayer Fife And Drum Corps album contains a very good if very short disco version of "Blue Skies".

Thanks but as you say this is extremely short, and not what was in the film. The movie was apparently only shown one time ever. November 1979. No release of the film ever made on VHS or DVD. Apparently the song was not released and no movie credits are available to check out. Sad because it was really a nice cover of the Irving Berlin tune. Perfect kind of disco theme about a better time ahead, which to me at the time was really a kind of reinforcement to keep holding on. I could use that song again right now.

I'm wondering if it was a remix of Helen April & John Dummer, although the 7" wasn't released until 1982.

Quality version tho! Check it out.

Thanks! That's a great lead. I will search for that.

Okay. I bought the Dummer/April version on ebay. Appears to have been only a UK release, so one is being sent to me from England. Since it will be a while before I get it, can you tell me if it is a hi nrg track or ballad or uptempo pop or what? I'm dying to know what I just bought.

Hi

How to describe this...................hmmmm?

Atmospheric, quirky, bluesy, loungetempo .................. and all this with Mr Dummer whistling like he's listened to Sitting On The Dock Of Bay too many times.

I love it, but it's not everyone's cuppa tea. (Which funnily enough is the B side)

It's got rhythm, but it isn't a dancer.

Like marmite - you'll either love it or hate it

Mind you, keep hold of it as Mr Dummer is rather collectable, so it will only increase in value over the years

Mark
