This is really a shot in the dark but R2 sounds a bit like Double who did have a minor hit with Captain Of The Heart the same year. The piano and the drum programming seems like their work but I'm unaware whether an album was released.

Thanks K-Bee I thought the same it is very similar at the beginning to Captain Of Her Heart. Think he did do an album so will check it out :)
