Forgotten by all? 70's song: "Elevator"

Recently something made me remember this song I bought as a 12" single back around 1975 and I have been trying to find it, or even just any evidence it truly existed. I remember the title was "Elevator" and I THINK the artist may have been Joanne Spain tho I'm not sure.. Lyrics included "everybody wants one, everybody needs one - Elevator, takes you up, brings you down".. something like that.. I have googled and can't find any info on artist by that name or the song.. Anyone ever heard of this one? ..thanks

Apparently there was a 12" mix of this one, there is no scan in the vault, so I wonder if this was a Promo only??? If there was a USA retail released I missed it cause I only own the 7".

Here I did a Gemm search , and the 12" of this song is indeed a Promo, sinse we are talking 1976 , this is really rare.

I won a 12inch of it on Ebay not so long ago, and wasn't too expensive so worth having a look on there as well.

There's a follow -up Joanne Spain Casino single called KYRIE ELEISON (1977) .....beware tho ... more MY SWEET LORD like in theme ..... & not disco .....

Hey folks, I read the immediate reply I got and have just been slow to follow up to read the additional comments. I'm thrilled that a few folks know and have even pursued getting this song! I do wish I could find an online MP3 or something that I could buy tho, as I mainly make CD mixes for my car. As to the question of the 12" single, I am about 90% sure it was released as a 12" as I know I bought it at time of release as a 12".. THANKS for the discussion on this one!

Forget satellite radio, you are more likely to rediscover forgotten tracks on internet radio, places like Disco935 on live365, or "cbs.nu" for obscure disco with an european flavour.

We are sure it was released on a 12" single, check the previous links provided.


the evidence points to a 1976 Promo, this doesn't mean you couldn't have bought a copy in a retail shop, many Promos were sold in retail shops at the time.


What I’d like to know is if this 12” issue was a retail copy or a Promo only.

The copy I bought on Ebay is a promo, even has the release notes and two photos of Joanne Spain in it dressed as a lift attendant . It comes in a picture (promo) sleeve and is on a white Casino Records label GRT077. I don't unfortunately have a scanner, otherwise I'd scan it in

well maybe we all forgot the 70's songs then because of the new generation but you know i love listening to some 70's songs...well in my satellite radio i tuned in to my favorite radio station ..well im a sibscriber of sirius well its nice because all the station there are no commercial break...
