| Use Descriptive Titles In Subject Line Please, when posting song ID requests we ask that you avoid meaningless subject lines like, "Who knows this song" or worse yet, "Help." People normally won't click on posts with these titles when they scan the list of posts. Make Your Post Stand Out! You'll get faster and better results if you use titles that actually relate to your request. For example let's say you know some of the words in the song are, "Love Injection" then use a subject line such as: "Song ID: Love Injection" or even, "Male vocal singing Love Injection." This way when another member glances at the long list of posts they'll say, "I know that," and they will then help you out a lot quicker. Be As Specific As Possible Please be as descriptive as you can in your post. If it sounds like a black female vocalist then say so. If you heard it on a particular TV commercial, radio show or club, then say so because that could be key. If it is an instrumental then give details such as style, BPM or tempo, whether it has an 80s or a 70s sound to it. Tell us as much about this mystery song as you can. You don't need to write a story, just quickly give us the facts so we can help you. Provide A Link To An Audio Sample Nothing gets faster results than including a URL to a SHORT audio clip of the song in question. While you can not upload a clip to the forums, there are several free sites on the web that will allow you to upload your audio clip to their servers. Simply include the URL they gave you into your post. Do a search on Google for "free file upload servers" to get a current listing or look at the other posts here to see what other members are using. YouSendIt - File Sharing Transfer Delivery - PC FTP Replacement seems to be very popular with DiscoMusic.com members. You can upload your audio file in a variety of formats, but generally a low bit rate MP3 file is quick to download and the most compatible for both Mac and Windows computer users. Sound samples should be kept small in size so they download quickly. Say Thank You When you get your answer ALWAYS thank those who tried to help you. If you don't or act as though others have to help you then you'll find your future requests ignored. How To Listen To A Sample Generally all one has to do to listen to a sample is click on the link embedded in the post and your computer (Mac or PC) will automatically luanch the program (Apple iTunes, WinAmp...) required to play the file. Occassionally you may see an error page when clicking on a link. Usually right clicking the link and choosing "save as" or "Save linked file as..." and downloading the file to your Desktop will allow you to double click and play the audio file. Absolutely No Request Or Offers For MP3s Asking for MP3s is illegal and will result in your post being deleted. Do NOT post requests or offer to make or trade MP3s, CD-Rs or URLs where to download music or other illegal activities. Thanks.
