| Just was going through some old tapes I had taped from the radio in the 80's, there's two euro tracks I've been wanting to find for a while. The're not really HI-NRG but more euro-electro. First one is a track called samurai, which came out in '84-'85 which was big in Europe, can't remember the name of the artist or label, would certainly like to find this on CD, especially the version sung in English as It was also released in German. Also, a track with the words 'Tora Tora' which sounded similar to Samurai, probably the same artist. Also, a track from around '82-'83 with a vocal section called 'MR ROBOTO', I don't know if it's the track title or not, but the rest of the sung vocal with an electro-Robot voice singing 'NOBODY GOT NO MR ROBOTO', I think this was from Germany as well. Sounded a bit like Living On Video but more electro sounding in a eurobeat style. Any help with these tracks. |

Hi James, The only song I can remember is Samurai by Nino De Angelo. You may find this track on ebay or Gemm or Amazon. If not, you can still by the cd called "Rivalen der Rennbahn" which contains the sound track of this German TV series (from the 80's). The soundtrack was released in 1989 so I am not sure if this is the version of Samurai that you're looking for. Countdown G.T.O. - Rivalen der Rennbahn (Instrumental) Nino De Angelo -- Samuraj Les McKeown -- It's A Game Marianne Rosenberg -- I need your love tonight Countdown G.T.O. -- Magic Race (Instrumental - long version) Ricky Shane -- Once I'm gonna stay forever (long version) Blue System -- Love Suite Ann Turner -- I'm your lady Nino De Angelo -- Don't kill it Carol Countdown G.T.O. -- Samuraj (Instrumental) Countdown G.T.O. -- Rivalen der Rennbahn (Reprise - Instrumental) The soundtrack was produced by Dieter Bohlen and co-produced by Luis Rodriguez. Label: Hansa. In 1985, Michael Cretu released a single called "Samurai". If I recall correctly, the track was released on Virgin. Last edited by Magnifique; January 18th, 2007 at 08:42 AM. |

| Please, all song ID requests regardless of genre go in the Song ID category. I've moved it to the correct area, but in the future I may simply delete the entire post. Thank you.

Hi Bernie (and thanks for the birthday wishes!) We know there's a seperate thread for ID requests, but I can also understand why if it's a hi-nrg song that's needed, the best place would be where the hi-nrg regulars hang out. It's not often I (can't speak for others, obviously) open the Song ID thread, although if a question pops up in my fave genre thread, I'm more likely to see it and perhaps help. Can they not be seen in two places? ATB Mark |

| Marmite7, Unfortunately, if we let everyone post song IDs wherever they want then their requests may go unanswered as they will be lost in the clutter. By posting song ID requests in the Song ID category, which is at the top of the page no less, it will get answered quicker since EVERYONE sees it and there is no guessing as to where is the best category to post.

"The song's chorus features the line, "Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto", which has become an unlikely catch phrase. Domo arigato is one of several Japanese phrases that translate to English as "thank you, very much". Last edited by bazac; January 22nd, 2007 at 12:12 PM. |

| A Vert Big Thank You BAZAC, That was a great help. I'm really learning alot about the artists & labels behind the music so much since I joined this forum. That Samurai Track by Michael Cretu I reckon is one of the greatest ballads ever made in the 80's & yet alot of people have no idea!. I've ordered the CD on AMAZON & can't believe how many other great tracks this guy has produced. A big thanks to discomusic for this site as all this co-operation between people who love underground 70's & 80's Dance will not only improve our knowledge of long fogotten tracks but maybe kick-up an alternative 80's revival. |
