| Hi Andy, I don't mean to be rude, because I have helped you in the past. But I refuse to listen to all of these. My suggestion(and I may be wrong) is no more than 3 in a post. I think you will get a wider base of people to listen and identify your tracks if you make it seem more like fun than work. As for me, when people put up a bunch of tracks to listen to, it gets boring very fast. If I don't recognize the first 2 or 3, I move on. Again, this is only my opinion. But I do notice other discomusic.com members don't even post here, and it may be because it is more hassle than delight. I want to help. But I'm not here to work. If I see more than 3 in a post, I don't even bother. And if anyone agree's with me, please say so. Sincerely, your friend in disco, needlefingers |

| Thanks for the comments needlefingers. I can easily split it into separate posts if you feel that is better, though it still means people will be listening through the list it'll be split up over several posts. Either way I'm trying to make it a chore for people. Just asking for people to help with ids, as I do with other posts on here :) |

| Please understand when I say I'm not sure your hearing me. A gluttony of posts is going to be the same thing. One or two posts, with a few songs each, that runs for a few days. Get your answers and then post new ones. I am being constructive when I say this. I love being the first one to guess a song. Many of us do. But the more it becomes work, the fun is gone. I wholeheartedly believe that more people will listen to a smaller number of tracks, thereby building a wider base of listeners and getting more answers. The easier you make it for your audience, the better reception you will recieve. And please Andy, I am not picking on you per say. I have been wanting to post something like this for a while. I like you and your enthusiasm. But if only a pocketfull of responders are willing to listen through these type of numerous unidentified tracks list, than the majority of potential responders(and answers) are possibly and probably lost. On the flipside, the more listeners you attract, the more you give back to this forum's community. More people will be exposed to something they may not have heard before. And more people will play the "name that tune" game. And you will also get your answers faster. Again, it is only my suggestion. You and everyone else is free to post at will, what you will. I don't get mad or angry when I see them. I just pass them by. And I believe others do too. Make it seem easy and fun for your audience and people will give back and have fun themselves. needlefingers. Last edited by needlefingers; October 23rd, 2006 at 01:33 PM. |

| It's a tricky one and I take entirely onboard what you are saying. I'll bear it in mind for future posts. I've been coming into contact with a lot of old mixes with lots of new tracks which I'm trying to identify for the people that shared them with me. The list gets longer all the time with new mixes appearing regularly so to post 3 at a time will take forever. The list here is just from new mixes that have come up in the last week so you can imagine to do it 3 at a time will take ages by which time more mixes will have appeared and so on and so on. At the end of the day I don't expect people to help I can only ask. If they feel the list is too long and they can't be bothered to look at it then I totally understand, I'm not trying to make it a chore for people as I said, purely asking people if they want to help then please do so if not then no offence taken |

| Your point is well taken. As I said, people are free to post at will, what they will. And I do apologize for hi-jacking your post. And I also look forward to helping you in the future. At my leisure. Take care. ;) needlefingers |

| Andy, I think Needlefingers has a good point. It does get confusing when you have that long a list of ids. Also, keeping track of which song is which is confusing....sometimes I read the posts afterwards...and it gets all convoluted unless someone numbers them (correctly) as they id them. Just my two cents...maybe 5 at a time would be best.

| Yea 5 sounds ok, don't think that's too excessive. Will do that in future then. The ones here all came about because about 8 new mixes arrived at the same time, and whilst I managed to id most of them there were these that I was stumped on |

| How do you feel if I split this post up into different ones then you can listen at your leisure? |

| Yeah, I think it would be best to do 5 at a time in one post. Then do 5 more in another...I'm sure it gets tedious...but in a list of 20, sometimes it gets confusing as to was that #12 or #13???... and thereby the accuracy of the answers gets compromised.;)

| oh and Andy, I want to thank you for having the class to post the assembled track listings for the old Roy Thode, Jim Burgess, Bobby V. tapes downloadable at that other site...I didn't know some of that stuff. I listened yesterday to the two you posted with your track list and it was much more enjoyable.

| No problem, always find it frustrating when you listen to a mix and don't know what one of the tracks is! I've got tracklistings for all the Roy Thode mixes off VJS and most of the Bobby Viteritti mixes that he was selling on his website some time ago |

| I dont agree with "limit to 3" at all. Sounds bizarre. See my post. I have only 1 post with about 10 songs which need identification. If it gets like "work" for someone, too bad. The idea is to identify songs, be it 10 posts with 1 song each spread over 1 year, or 1 post with 10 songs spread over the same time! Im disappointed - I only got 2 correct responses to my list of 10 songs I desparately need to identify. thanks. |
