For the record, the lead vocals are credited to Valerie Simpson, Nick Ashford & Chaka Khan on "Stuff Like That".

I always felt it was a little strange that Quincy Jones got all the credit, when he was (merely) the producer/arranger of the album. You normally expect the named artist to either be lead singer or strongly featured instrumentalist.
Most other producers/record labels would have given the project a name and seen how far that would go. There a quite a few examples where a 'studio' band became a fully fledged group with a longish recording career.

I agree with you, Quinny...my strongest case in point was with Randy Crawford's "Street Life." I always felt that The Crusaders were background, but the record label didn't focus on her until after the song became a huge hit, however, the record is still credited solely to them.

Is this the same version featured in the latest GAP commercial? Dude dancing solo and doing serious moves to showcase those 'loose' jeans?

Call me old-fashioned, but as much as I love Stuff Like That, some of Quincy's other 'stuff' is equally good but overlooked e.g. Love I Never Had It So Good, Razzmatazz, I'm Gonna Miss You In The Morning & Bodyheat. Generally these tracks featured singers like Luther V & Patti Austin but there were many other talented performers on there too so why should singers get so much credit? Surely, without writers & producers none of the music discussed on this site would exist. Gosh, I'm getting a bit heavy here arent I? I think all the Ja Rule & Eminem on MTV at the gym tonight depressed me.
