Help! Heard a song, looking for a title or artist! Lyrics were something like:

Won't you step inside my car
I got candy, I got kisses,
I can take you to the nearest star

I'm your vehicle baby,
I'll take you anywhere you want to go,
I'm your vehicle baby,
by now you ought to know.

I want you, I need you, Great God in heaven you know I love you.

I believe that's an AM Gold classic: "Vehicle" by Ides of March (1972?)

Vehicle was released in the Spring of 1970 on WB and the lead singer, Jim Peterik, was later the lead of Survivor (not that show) but the group who sang "Eye of The Tiger" from Rocky III.

"Vehicle" by Ides of March was a Blood, Sweat & Tears ripoff sound-alike song--albeit a good one. They never did anything else of a consequence that I recall.

VEHICLE - Ides of March.
What a crappy band name for such a great record. More than a Blood Sweat & Tears rip off, it was a better dancer than anything they or Chicago ever released as a single.
And just listen to the horns....brilliant!

Hi QUINNY!
I beg to differ when it comes to Chicago and dance. As a dancer, I LOVED to dance to Chicago's version of "I'm A Man." The percussion was off the hook!

I just saw that too DD. I didn't know Chicago did 'I'm a Man'; I just thought it was Spencer Davis group & Macho.
Have u been watching this program in recent weeks? Amongst the dross there has been quite a bit of interesting disco/dance such as Mary Jane Girls, Archie Bell & the Drells, Indeep, Chic, Dee D.Jackson (that robot was hilarious!), Stylistics, Spagna, Rafaella Carra & Princess!
I'm glued to it.( the program that is)

Leanmean: But of course, I'm a Man was great too! Not an awful lot of records were straight gut wrenching 4/4 songs in those days. How did anyone really manage to dance to such jerky, quite often ultra fast Rhythms?
At least stuff like Soul Man was solid, solid funk at a decent BPM.

"Yes, there is LIFE in that body!"
