I thought it was Joe Dolce or something close to that.

The title was "Shaddap You Face". Hit the charts in '81.

Thanks for answer, although not being a disco song, I guess we should consider this one close to be known as "wedding disco", the perfect song to play when everyone starts to yell and get pissed on the dance floor at the end of the night.

As this is an Italianweddingendofnightwhen everyon'spissed thread. I used to love playing either 'I wanna Be like You' from The Jungle Book featuring Louie Prima at the end of the night, especially at weddings in my early days. Can you imagine a better site for a DJ than seeing all those pissed rats dancing, jigging, falling over, making like apes to that, especially the middle 8!!!!

Was SHADDAP YOUR FACE one of the most popular songs "rowing" was done to? I was struck blind with the sight of a whole pub-ful of British people suddenly falling on the floor and starting to do rowing motions as if in a boat, when the Joe Dolce track came on sometime in 1981. Didn't this rowing craze have something to do with not being able to do any actual dancing on pub premises, or something like that?

Jussik: If you're right you're a mine of information.
The only rowing in Discos that I ever saw was to the 'Gap Band - Oops Upside Your Head' and I HATED TO SEE IT. It f****d everything up so far as I was concerned. I may as well have dragged out the Hokey Kokey, a few jigs and reels and a barn dance after that, instead of something low down and funky, which is the direction I was going in.
Now somehow I know what you'd say.

No, The Bird - or Birdie - Dance! This was a an extremely terrible short lived sensation during the mid 80's. A track of the same name spread like The Plaque thru Europe, compelling people of all ages to do The Bird Dance for a couple of months. Preferably done with a partner, you took her/his arm and circled around a couple of times while a accordion melody insulted your ears. Then you both flapped your elbows funky chicken style, clapped your hands four times, bent your knees, did some other silly stuff and started the circling again. The Macarena of it's day but easier to do, The Birdie Dance was probably the most ridiculous dance craze ever and totally unavoidable if you had to attend a wedding or any other a social gathering with music, or go to any handbag or shoulderpad club that spinned top 40 cuts. Every variety show on tv taught you how to go thru the mortifying moves. We all were quilty, we all participated, some gleefully, others with shame. " I saw you do The Bird dance last night, how could you!"- They naturally tried to follow T.B.D. with The Cat Dance etc, none of which luckily made any impact.

Jussik: The Birdie Song I think is what you're thinking about. I thankfully NEVER played it and NEVER danced to it .
I wasn't thinking of that in particular, but I thought you'd probably think 'what the hell' and put something to party to, on the wheels of steel.
