Default What is this Trammps Song?

Gize,

This should be an easy one!

I am positive this song is by The Trammps! But I don't know if it was ever released on any of their albums. The song goes:

Dance! Everybody Dance. (everybody, everybody......)
Move! Everybody Move. (everybody, everybody......)
Groove! Everybody Groove. (everybody, everybody......)
Shout! Everybody Shout. (everybody, everybody......)

Turn the Mutha Out!

Lead parts sung by Earl Young on bass, then Jimmy Ellis comes in screaming as usual to punctuate and punch up the song.

Damn good song! What is the name of this? I gotta get it!

many THANKS in advance,
Kev

It's Disco Party by The Trammps.

It's off the album Where The Happy People Go from 1976.

Timing is 8:11.

It is also on The Best Of The Trammps from 1978. Timing is 8:01

Needles,

I owe you BIG TIME! Thanks! FINALLY!

For the past year, a local station's been playing this song on their Saturday Night Mix ---- But only starting from Earl Young's part and not from the beginning where Jimmy Ellis does actually sing lead.

I loved it from the moment I heard it. But here's why I now look like a complete jackass.

1: About 25 years ago, my best friend hummed the horn parts that begin the song, and asked me "what song is this?" Immediately, I knew it and told him.

2: Last year, I created my own Top 10 favorite albums of all time, and picked The Trammps "Where The Happy People Go" as # 8. So I've had it all this time, but never played "Disco Party" myself. Some Discophile huh?

thanks again!
Kev

Don't beat yourself up. It happens to me too. The best part is when you realize you own it already.

And let's face it; Disco Party is like 2 different songs. There is the "Disco Party" sung in the first half. The second half then sounds like the party happening.

Take care.

Needles, Drooski,

Thanks again guys for the information! I really appreciate coming to this website and talking with people who love what I love. VINYL !

I REALLY REALLY REALLY am crazy about my albums -- and I refuse (I know I sound old here) to buy CD's to save on storage space OR for CD's so called "superior" sound quality.

There is NOTHING like pulling out an album and sitting down to read the credits as your album is playing. Who sings lead, who wrote what, who plays on it. It really takes me back to my "yootful" days back in the 70's.

As an aside to what you said Needles, to pick three "found" treasures that I already owned, but bought the album for the then hit record on the charts:

1) Give Me Love - Cerrone (Bought it for "Supernature")

2) Standing in the Rain - Don Ray (Bought it for "Got To Have Lovin'")

3) Lady America - Voyage (Bought it for "From East to West")

Coincidentally, all French.

The first two I discovered about 15 years after I bought them, and Lady America interestingly, got airplay in 1981 here in NY. Loved it, but could never "find" the album! I owned it all along since '78 !

thanks again Gize!,
Kev
